Hi.

Looking for some speedy advice wrt the 24hour strike on Monday

I am travelling to Dublin from Melbourne via Sydney on EY on Monday.
My flight from MEL to SYD arrives at 6.55pm and my connecting flight MEL-AUH is 9.50pm.
I have business commitments on Wednesday morning in Dublin (flight arrives Tuesday afternoon) so can't arrive the next day.

I wonder what changes, if any, people think I should make to the flights?
Should I move the flight from MEL-SYD up so as to get to SYD much earlier to allow for the inevitable delays in getting through International security or attempt to move the whole set of flights to a different day?

Does anyone have any experience of travelling during industrial action like this one?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

J

they have to keep a certin % of staff on, but this means long lines and delays. I would be moving your domestic flight forward a few hours if possible

Actually I did change my flight as well (I am also impacted, but another flight).. I had to pay of course.. but I think it is worth it.... as to your situation, maybe change the domestic flight may be a better choice

Thanks for your replies.
I have moved my flight from Melbourne to Sydney up by a few hours.
It will mean a lot of sitting around most likely but should hopefully reduce overall stress levels!

So. Moved up my flight to Sydney a few hours and was pretty much waved through with no delays at all by some very management looking types. Loads of staff around and through in less time than usual. Don't know if I should be relieved or worried about security!

Just need to wait an hour for my lounge to open now.

Well at least you can now relax and have a few drinks, did it happen to be a quiet time for flight departures and you missed the rush? or just waving everyone through really quickly?

Not sure. It seems generally very quiet here. Probably a lull after the morning flights and before all the night flights.
