I travel alot between PER and MEL. Is there any advantage for me to try and book my tickets through AA?

What about booking overseas QF tickets through AA?

Also, I am currently sitting on 780 SC (GOLD). Should I go for the AA Platinum challenge or try qualify for QF Platinum?

I worked out that if i do 5 more trips from PER to MEL via ADL, that will give me 600 SC. But I have to do this before end september.

thanks

Only in that you will often pay less for the ticket; to me that is a great advantage

My experience is that AA is still often cheaper; the best thing to do is go on and compare prices when planning a trip

I personally would look at the challenge due to the much better value that the miles have on AA than they do on QF. If you are in a position where you would typically be able to make mid tier on either, then the AA scheme is likely to be much better value in the long term anyway. It sounds like you would be having to do trips that you may not have a need to do just to get SCs and to me, that would seem to be a waste of money for the small incremental benefit of QF Platinum

Booking QF at aa.com works a treat. I have saved myself approx $150 in the last week booking two whY trips (SYD-MEL-SYD and SYD-BNE-GLT-BNE).

The only drawback I have found is that even though I have added my FF number into the booking, QuickTrip doesn't recognise the booking. I think it is because AA doesn't ask for a title (eg MR). It is easy enough to solve though, as if QF doesn't recognise your booking it asks for your flight number or destination and you can checkin from there.

Great Find! Any way of avoiding the fuel fines (and GST) will make my day!

I just thought I would add...

I tried using QuickCheck on the flight home this morning with a card (my AMEX not QFF Card) which does not have the title on it, and it still had the same issues that it did not recognise the booking.

Was this the same credit card that was used to purchase the ticket? My understand is that you need to either use a QF FF card (only if the QF FF number is in the booking) or the credit card that was used to purchase the ticket.

I successfully used my Diners Club card (that was used to purchase the ticket) for kiosk checkin with both QF and AA.

I tried both my QF FF Card and also the AMEX I paid for the tickets with... No luck... I will try again next weekend on my way up to GLT.
