Booking Qantas partner flights

I plan To book Qantas flight to UK using pay and points.it is a partner flight with Emirates. Does anyone know if I will be able to book emergency seats straight away through either Qantas or Emirates or not! Many thanks

Probably goes without saying but, finding anything in J or F between Australia and the USA requires a lot of searching well ahead of time.

On non-stops, yes. But I have been finding some availability via HKG or TYO.
