Almost 900 pages of discussion and the search function doesn't help much, however....
I'm looking at SYD-SCL (Santiago) return on points. This time in 2027 - March. There are only Classic Plus points seats in Feb-March but if I go back a bit there are Classic Reward seats at 63K (one way) but they are via Dallas (there are even others via LAX and Miami).
If I look at random availability I can see the standard low Classic Reward flight is 48K one way but there are only a few mid year dates with seats either way. I'm assuming there's a magic hour when seats are released and they vanish immediately. Any ideas for this route?
I've been on this site for longer than most and you'd think I'd know this sort of thing by now. But I've mainly used points back in the good old days when it was a lot easier. Anyway sorry if this has been answered but I can't get a solid answer anywhere. I did find this thread just then though:
Early release of Classic Rewards to members with status
So being a PS I have zero chance I guess. A while ago there was a special offer of 70K return but I think that was for May. Anyway I'll just hope I guess.

The old days of reliable seat releases a year (almost) in advance are gone.

They still appear at T-353 on some routes, mostly domestic for members with higher status.

However, for popular routes they appear to be released at more random intervals, if at all.

For in-demand routes they may release none at all.

In your case I suspect status may also be limiting your options because any seats that are released will be visible to higher status members first.

So if seats were released on SYD-SCL, they might be snapped up before you see them.

FWIW, as a WP, I can’t see any availability in Mar-27.

Silver Status will see reward seats on QF metal 323 days in advance , so travelling on March 1 2027, any seats on offer will be visible from April 12. Partner airlines maybe earlier.

Thank you for this. I'll have to keep looking or stump up the cash. I saw returns pushing $3500 on my Flight Hopper app recently - for Feb. November is around $2100 still.

Thanks - I'll keep an eye out around then.

Well some LATAM classic reward seats popped up for Feb 2027 on a random check on Friday night. It was 57K each way and I was all set to go but my travel companion (family member, not partner) wasn't available to discuss and would get back to me. Of course it was way too late by then. All gone again. Might have to delay it a year. I've only got enough QFF points for one return flight so couldn't chance it and buy two tickets. The vast majority of my points are Velocity and they aren't any use for this route.

If it makes you feel better, LATAM is not a member of One World, so the award seats you found would have been ineligible for inclusion in a One World Classic flight award even if your travel companion had been available to discuss.

@Warks did not mention looking for oneworld classic rewards ... just standard classic reward flights to SCL. Hence the specific discussion is now in a thread of its own.

True.

However, the post was originally in the One World Classic award thread and my reply was in that context.

Hence the specific discussion is now in a thread of its own.
Thank you for doing this.

The OWA thread is chockers with OT posts because that product is so complex.

Anything that can help reduce the confusion for readers is a good thing… even if my post in this new thread now appears to be off topic.

The new QF search tool is useful for PS/NB because partner awards fall outside the QF metal release rules. So if there are any LA CRs they should show up and let you know how many seats are available.

For cash fares, we bought the $4,999 J fare. Adding a tag flight to AEP and home from SCL was only slightly more.

So keep an eye out for the next QF Sale!
