Just wondering if anyone has any experience booking above.

Am looking to fly Bus - MEL-LHR or MEL-CDG in October / November this year. Have never booked ASA before, I've always just used points to upgrade. I do need the statuas credits though to maintain Gold, hence why am looking at ASA. Have around 350k points to burn.
Is it possible to split the booking? i.e. Book my ticket Bus points + $$ and earn the full status credits, and book my husbands ticket using points only or as a classic award? And have us sitting together... (his request, not mine ;))

OR does anyone have any better suggestions? I'm not locked into Qantas for the flights, happy to shop around.. But I do want the lie flat beds..

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, yeah I've read everything on this site. More confused than when I started! I'm trying to not get ripped off. AND Not fly cattle to Europe..

No relation to Princess Fiona..

It is possible to book both if there is enough availability in the "flat seat" class - If your targeted flights are showing U2 then I'd do the classic booking online and call for the mASA.

Do not tarry in the process.

When I looked at October recently, there did not seem to be much "U" availability to LHR/CDG. Still some on selected dates in September and November, but too often they have part of the journey in Y. You need to do some dummy "flexible with date" bookings to see what you can spot. If that doesn't throw up anything you will need to do some availability search for "U" on Expert Flyer (paid) or Flight Stats (free). Time consuming I have found, but you need to know what availability there is before you call up for an ASA.

Your MASA will only work to LHR (and only on QF operated flights, so that's main route to check if you want to maximise SCs. Otherwise perhaps a MASA to DXB and a classic (or cash) to CDG?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
