looking at points booking in J in 2/13 and SQ rep says nothing released/available yet

he says seats dont release until a few months before travel and are snapped up quickly

Does anyone have experience here?

I have a CX J seat SYD/HKG/YVR on points but prefer a more direct route

Should I hold onto the CX booking and keep tring SQ call centre?

Assuming u are looking at AC or NZ I wouldn't hold out much hope on a J redemption...

I keep an eye regularly on those and it's very hard to find anything that is not UA redemption in J across the pacific (LAX SFO YVR etc)

Use the tools like kvs to find the lowest load days to help you plan, but it's unusual to find anything as a redemption until very very last minute on lightly loaded flights...

If it all goes wrong and you're going to fly in Y I'd advocate AC, the seats are bigger and the direct flight makes a big difference.

For example a quick check today.

AC34 in J 2/11 - 12/11 no seats on redemption

but in std seats:
2nd,3rd x 2 J available
4th, 9th, 10th - 6 x J available
7th - 8 x J available
5th, 6th, 8th, 11th, 12th - 9+ x J available

So based on normal load and revenue forecasting, you would expect to see at least 1 x J seat on 5th, 6th etc. but nothing....

Makes it tough to get a ride if not cashing points direct from your AC ccount.

I have heard Lufthansa A380 F is also as tuff and last miunte as this with SIA points
