Hi AFF Community,

Due to some fairly last minute changes our original plans that involved flights on Singapore Airlines PE have become a ~10hr Jetstar economy flight (an unenviable position).

What I'm wondering is if it's possible to book an extra seat to make the journey a little more tolerable?
Currently we have the window and middle seat of a 3 booked and the aisle is showing as free - I could roll the dice and hope that it doesn't fill (flight is just under a week away) but ultimately I'm happy to pay the ~$350 to ensure it's empty if it's possible.

Cheers!

Jetstar does not sell a 2nd seat (known as "comfort seats"). Really the best you can do is ask at check in if there is a row with a spare seat (then pray).

Given you mentioned its a 10 hour flight I assume you're booked on a 787 flight. I've sat in 55A (last row) before and can recommend it as you don't have anyone sitting next to you (except your companion) plus you get a little more space to the side as there is a gap between the seat and the window.

If possible the seats 54AC, 55AC, 54GH and 55GH are all sets of two at the back.

Thanks for that henrus - I guess I feared that was the case.

You are correct it's a 787 flight, unfortunately as we only booked 2 weeks out from the flight taking place all the seats you mention were taken (as were all the extra leg room seats which I'd have paid for).

The only options left were regular economy at ~$450 a seat vs their business offering (really PE from what I can tell) at ~$1600 and I couldn't swallow that difference (although I might regret it in the end).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I googled this yesterday and there was an article on oversized passengers which said to book an extra seat and then call Jetstar and explain the situation.

If it was me, I'd choose seats at the back. Everybody wants to sit at the front for some reason so odds are higher at the back of getting an empty seat.
