Have had a look around and found nothing so asking here, happy to be pointed elsewhere.

AA operate 3-class Econ, Flagship Business, and Flagship First on their A321 (Sharklets) nonstop services between LAX-JFK, LAX-BOS, MIA-LAX, SFO-JFK, JFK-SNA but I can't see any J availability on the Qantas multi-city booking tool, which either only shows Econ and First, or Econ and Biz (with stops like ORD or BNA so not transcon services, and I'm not sure what these J products are anyway, but that's beside the point).

TLDR: Has anyone booked a Transcon Flagship J award through QFF, or are they only available through AAdvantage?

I flew cash ticket BOS-JFK-LAX in F/J earlier this year and it was quite good, especially the Flagship lounge at JFK (LAX one is open now too). BOS-JFK leg is a fun short run in "Transcon" F with the three-class A321 so the aircraft can position to JFK.

I've been looking at LAX-JFK and SFO-JFK as part of a J award RTW and have seen zero availability. I can also find only Y(X) for international e.g. JFK-LHR.

QF seem to push you to use BA for J rewards on LHR-JFK or JFK-LHR (must be cheaper for them).

When I last did LHR-JFK on a Y(X) reward was only offered 2 inconveniently timed AA flights vs about 10 BA for same day. When I recently added LHR-JFK in J to a OW reward I was only given BA options.

@sqrt() I just did an expert flyer search for LAX-JFK from now until end of April and from November to end of schedule.

No U class seats showed up

There was the occasional First Seat (Z class).

Cheers. Just having a look on AA and there are definitely seats available there for BOS-LAX... Not that I can book them! Strange they don't show up as "Flagship" but it's definitely the right equipment.aaflagbiz.PNG

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That includes a “web special” award. These aren’t usually released to partners.
Have a look via the BA site and see what’s available for them to book.
Anything there should be able to be booked by QF via phone.

Figured something like that was up, thanks very much!

If phoning the QF Call Centre, they can only book based on actual award availability of course. However, the BA site is a good indicator of availability, as posted above.

The QF web page will at times show phantom award availability, so if booking on the web, the page may ‘crash’ at the payment stage.

However, airlines may restrict award availability to some, or all partners. Some flights/routes may have no award availability at all for partner airlines, at times.

There seems to be reasonable availability, at least in some months, in F (Z) for AA TATL. AA J seems to be pretty much sold out.

I'm not sure what availability is like these days, but back in late 2019 I managed to book JFK-SFO as part of my RTW trip in late 2020 which obviously never happened.

When I was researching the flights, there was very limited availability in J on direct JFK to SFO/LAX flights. The only slots available was on AA177 on a couple of Fridays during the whole month of November 2020, and nothing at all from JFK to LAX.

A while ago now but I booked one with QFF back in 2018 SFO-JFK. Went in J but could have booked F if I had wanted to. Unsure if there was regular space or if I just got lucky.
