Hey folks just hoping to get some up-to-date info on the best way to book an AA award flight out of Australia (specifically MEL to BKK on QF metal)? It's been a few years since I did this, last time was by phone through the local number (Fiji office?) which was quite an unpleasant experience - a simple booking took several calls lasting well over an hour and they hit me with a bunch of extra charges. But things may have changed one hopes....? Thanks in advance.

If you want Mel to BKK on QF, you can do that on their website. If you want CX or MH, then need to call

Thanks Anna, I think the problem I had last time was I needed to extract points from two or three accounts (family booking, all flying but others have their own AA accounts) so I presume I would still need to call either the Australian or the US office to do this?

If you call for such action you almost certainly will get hit with a fee.

I suggest open separate AAdvantage booking sessions for each account on separate browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Palemoon, etc.), then book them all at the same time.

I presume you are loking at economy awards given the number you wish to book for.

(Or as theDan indicates two posts down, use the one browser, initiating the booking for each one at a time, putting them all on hold. Once all are held, go back into each each complete the booking.)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

That's a good idea also, thanks serfty. Yes party of five this time in economy... I'll get online tonight & see what I can sort out.

Just book them online one-after-the-other. To avoid the unlikely case that somebody will book away some tickets while you are in the process, just put the itineraries "on hold" first.
