Hi,

I am about to book a flight on Southwest airlines for a flight from Las Vegas to LAX, for a flight at the end of October.

I have a choice of using a 28 degree m/card, a Commbank travel money card, or australian visa card.

I would appreciate advice on which is likely to have the lowest cost, including fees and exchange rate.

Cheers,

Jason

Yes, looks like I can get $75 :)

At $75 don't think it will make much diff what card you use - I just booked 2 seats and paid with Alt Black - no CC fees to you will only pay Visa or MC inter conv fee - either one won't break the bank mate.

I'd opt for the 28 Degrees card - no transaction fees and no currency conversion fees, and I've always found their exchange rate to be pretty spot on as well. I booked several Southwest flights last year with the card and had no problems.

Thanks Jurahn. While I appreciate it is not a lot of money, it does not make any sense paying more to the banks than I have to...

We flew Southwest last year but booked that 'in country' and used 28 degrees card. Free baggage is great.

Had the funniest flight of our lives, CSM was a comedian and a very funny bloke. He did not have to follow a script like they do here. He received a round of applause at the end of the flight.

Yes, the free baggage is great, makes planning domestic US flights so much easier and we found Southwest's fares were always a lot cheaper than other airlines. I've only ever booked through the website from Australia, but as I mentioned, have had no problems (touch wood).

We had a great CSM on our first flight with Southwest - her in-flight announcements were absolutely hilarious, and as you say, it's a refreshing change to the same-old same-old script they follow here. On my most recent flight with them, I was travelling from Tucson to Las Vegas, and of course they still have to go through the lifejacket demo in the event of a water landing so the accompanying commentary was a real comedy routine seeing as the whole flight is pretty much across desert!

These are great prices with luggage. Do they levy a cc fee on the 28D M/C?

I've used my 28 Degrees card for all our Southwest bookings in the last 18 months, and Southwest have never charged a CC fee on any of them.
