Hi All,

I need to depart from Maputo on a RTW ticket. I know Qatar fly from there but trying to get them to book a RTW is like pulling teeth. I normally book them with QF because I have Plat status and most of my RTW flights are on QF metal. I traditionally depart from SA and Qantas have their SA office call me to take payment. As they don't have a Mozambique office, how would they take payment for a ticket beginning in Maputo?

I think the chance that QF will ticket an ex-MPM booking is zero. And even if they did I reckon you could bet your bottom dollar they will insist on pricing at the Australian level.

My thoughts exactly. Try AA if you can.

Would you find it easier to position to JNB and RTW from there?

It may be easier to position to Johannesburg than Maputo but it certainly won't be easier on the hip pocket to originate from there.

How much worse, unless you are aiming for a Xone3, which can't be done from JNB.
I didn't think it was significantly more, apart from potential positioning costs.
And MPM requires a Qatar flight as the first leg too, IIRC?

Since 1 June the difference is several thousands, before taxes.

Yes, the only oneworld flight ex-MPM is to DOH with QR.
