The silly bugger. One would like to think that the decision to 'terminate' the PIC will be reversed on appeal.

Interesting the comments urging the poster of the photos not to relent to alleged pressure from CX to remove the photos. Good show for leaving them up, too. I'm going to use the scariest looking one as wallpaper for a few days!

I already had seen the video, however did not know about the sacking bit. Unfurtunately it has been removed and I did not save a copy.

The story is that it was a recent 777 Delivery flight in Seattle of CX latest B777-300ER flown by the B777 Fleet Manager. (name withheld)

edited to include the short version of the film. B777 Video

The You-Tube version is rubbish

Totally awesome and I would have loved to have been on the aircraft when that was done; or even at the Museum of Flight from where the video was shot.

Interesting. The first version of this I was sent and is no longer available leaves either of these for dead.

Saw the film clip and item on Ch 7 last night. The CX chairman was on board. The pilot lost his $500K p.a. job. Is either a real dirkhead or has had a better offer:!:

bravoecho and I talked about this incident...he had a great insight (helps that his father is a CX pilot). Seems everything wuold have been alright if he had asked the Chairman and got his OK (as well as the airport). The co-pilot was helpless to do anything, he got his knuckles rapped (but as he knew nothing of the stunt until it was being done, what could he do?)

Should have just turned around and asked the chairman. He is reported to have been sitting in the jump seat.

British airline boss was in coughpit during 350mph stunt that cost pilot his job | the Daily Mail
