Hi guys,

Just wondering what the transit will be like. I heard it is a tight squeeze therefore lounge may not even be much of a question. But just incase i get time. where would you head? I assume the new QF F lounge is not accessible given the onward flight is domestic.

Appreciate any comments :)

The QF F lounge at LAX is open for QF11 LAX-JFK and is accessible.

Thanks for the good news madrooster

Actually, IIRC the new lounge is in T4? and I will be in TBIT? if so then boohoo.....

Don't QF exclusively use TBIT? Therefore that is where their lounges are.....??

a side question, if i were to be connecting to AA then that means i will need to go to T4. Will i still have access to F lounge in TBIT? or following baggage pick up for recheck, I will actually need to wheel my luggage to T4 straight away, as opposed to being able to check luggage back into TBIT then hang around there till closer to time of departure?

Pretty sure it's a no-go on the F-lounge for QF->AA.

If ticketed through you'll pick up bags, queue for CBP (the kiosks help a bit here these days), queue for customs, and then finally drop bags and walk out of TBIT, turn right and walk to T4 and then back into the loving company of the TSA.

There's the AA lounge in T4 if you have time (unless you head out to the American Beagle "gate" 44).

But you will have access to the AA flagship lounge if flying AA first or OWE. :p
No access to Flagship lounge if AA program member or not non-AA OWE, unless flying in paid F fare class on nonstop flight to JFK or outside North America.

You are absolutely right, how about any advice for T7 JFK? sounds like its a very sad set of choices.

There is now an Admirals Club in "Eagle's Nest".
If you are a non AA OWE, or flying AA in paid F to JFK or outside North America, you can use the Flagship Lounge.

There will be access to both the oneworld (QF) lounge in TBIT and the AA lounges in T4, once the TBIT-T4 airside connector building is complete.

I won't be surprised if they put in an exception rule in that you must be departing on an international flight to use the TBIT lounge, else it could potentially get crowded very quickly.

There is access to TBIT now ... all you need to enter TBIT (or any other LAX terminal) is a same day BP for a flight departing LAX from any terminal.

As to earlier posts, when your bags are tagged through to JFK you do collect them before going through customs at TBIT but you then take them up the ramp signed for transit passengers and redeposit them before exiting TBIT or following the signs for QF11.

What are the chances of being able to squeeze in a shower at the lounge between arriving on QF15 and leaving on 11? We're flying on to Reykjavik 3.5 hours after arriving at JFK and will possibly have lounge access at T7 (with PPass but lounge appears to have no showers). Then jumping in a car to drive to the north coast of Iceland as soon as we arrive there so it will be along time between showers. At least there will only be us in the car whatever happens!

So, if the connecting domestic AA allows (in terms of time), what you're saying is I could now use the bus to get back to QF F @ TBIT even with only an onward domestic BP (as WP) followed by another walk out of TBIT (or the return bus) to T4 ?

Thanks

No need need for the T4-TBIT bus (in fact it is not available until 4pm).

Just go back through security @ TBIT.

I'll be testing this out in a few weeks as I have 6 hour QF-AA layover at LAX. My plan is to hang on to my bags at TBIT and instead check in at Flagship Check In T4 (Transcon F) in case I can get an earlier flight. Assuming I can't I'll head back to TBIT after I check my bags for a couple of hours in the QF F lounge and perhaps even a quick dash to In n Out when they open at 10:30 before heading back to T4.
