Brisbane Airport upgrade

We parked at the terminal and flew HLO on the weekend. Walking out of the car park into the same level security checkpoint was very quick and convenient.

For anyone going through BNE Intl without lounge access or when lounges are closed, Boost Juice and Subway have recently closed.

The rumour I heard from someone working at one of those establishments is "Emirates bought the space and are putting in a Chinese food place".
I'm not sure how many levels of whispers are involved in that one ...

BNE is currently in the middle of a massive $5B transformation. The "Emirates" part of the rumor is actually Emirates Leisure Retail, who just won a major contract to deliver 13 new outlets at the International Terminal.

Immigration lines in BNE are constantly nuts busy- both arriving and departing with the works happening. Not very much fun at all.

I'm surprised that my daughter didn't complain to me after her recent trip to VLA - they are two of her favourites! Interesting to see how long it takes and how i affects traffic flow and time to get through the terminal (in either direction).

Mrs NM's recent experience at BNE Int as follows:

• Outbound - morning of 01/01/2026, pretty smooth and quick with on-line check-in, both security and immigration no issues or delays. Was in the lounge within 15 mins of dropping her at the airport.
• Inbound - afternoon of 21/01/2026, long queues and long waits for immigration and customs. She was travelling J and hand-luggage only, and took over an hour from landing to exiting customs.
