BNE Intl J lounge - pre security access only Apr - Sep

Yes, that's why I said you need a boarding pass.

Even QF won't let you in flying QF if you're not checked in.

We can fault the lounge attendant for not giving you the proper reason for rejection, maybe new or whatever...

But you were absolutely taking the piss trying to enter without checking in first.
Mate - that was the point of the post...questioning why they don't know the rules!

No 'piss-taking' involved...I went in and had a polite conversation to see where it went. Had the answer been straight away that I don't have a boarding pass I would've taken that on the chin and turned away...

I said from the get go that it worked in my favour and I wasn't complaining...Just an observation to make of it what you will.

Step one of lounge entry at pretty much any lounge - present boarding pass.

You couldn't do that. Who knows what would have happened had you presented a QR boarding pass.

As for no piss taking - I wasn't there, but you said it was "quite a discussion" and the manager got involved, so I can only infer you were pushing more than gently when you knew (or should have known) this was absolutely not going to fly. They let you in without a boarding pass, meaning QF doesn't get paid for your entry. That's not done lightly.

Two things can be true at once - you're both at fault!

We will have to disagree there mate - no harm in that.

I asked a question - had a discussion (which doesn't mean I was anything other than polite). I'm certainly not in the wrong...It's like asking the umpire in a game of cricket if it's out or not...are you in the wrong for asking the question??

I'm only going from your posts, I wasn't there - you used language like "Gate keeper would not allow us entry so when i protested the manager came".

It's really a moot point, you can't get into any QF lounge without a boarding pass, even if you're flying QF. I'm pretty sure the manager knew that, but I think this discussion has run its course.

Thanks for your input mate - always good to have a differing point of view. Bottom line is we (there was 2 of us) got in and were lucky to do so.

While I'm surprised by the lack of knowledge around the rules - I was grateful to be let in and it has certainly earned some 'good will' from me for Qantas in that respect.

Yes - agreed this discussion has run it's course.
