Are they doing anything in the lounge to compensate for this, or is it still Seppelt bubbles for the plebs paying $10k fares? They would never contemplate doing this in Sydney.
This is an airline with significant market power over an airport with significant real estate. If they wanted they could either have improved the lounge experience (I don't know, maybe better than $15 sparkling for P?), offered something else airside (even a holding pen with light refreshments) or both. They don't see the need.
I would love to think @FlyandStay's experience was because of a late delay but my own QF experience would suggest 70 minutes is 70 minutes! Who at the gate would think to coordinate with the lounge? Pretty appalling and a big reason to avoid BNE QF.
