BKK - what’s best option for my daughter. Travelling to Syd on QF24. QF gold member and has Amex platinum card plus J ticket with Qantas. Thanks so much

Welcome to AFF @EmL

The Cathay lounge if open would be a better option than the 'Miracle Lounge' Qantas advises. The JAL lounge will likely be closed for the time of the flight.

Thanks so much. Only thing it says Cathy Lounged closed until further notice and she’s flying monday

I flew QF24 in J in March, unless things have changed, you will have access to the Emirates lounge. Check in agent said access was available to both Miracle lounge and Emirates, Emirates was a no brainer! Lounge has a decent buffet and was basically empty apart from other QF J passengers, not sure if Emirates has since put on additional flights from BKK around when QF24 departs.

It looks like there is an EK flight leaving BKK at 1pm, so the lounge will be open at 12pm when your daughter is there. Not sure if they will briefly close the lounge between the EK flight and when check in for QF24 opens. Worst case is you lounge hop with the priority pass on the amex platinum and then go to the EK lounge when that reopens.

Thanks everyone
She will head straight to the emirates lounge and spend as much time as she can there with all backup options noted
Much appreciated

... will have access to the Emirates lounge ...
I'd forgotten about the EK lounge.

@EmL Looking like access would be OK this month for QF24 Mo/We/Fr/SA with the EK lounge open after 2pm and QF24 boarding by 5:30pm. Other days more restrictive.
From 31 March 2022 until 31 May 2022, timings are as follows: Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun: 05:30-09:10, 11:00-13:40, 14:10-01:00 Tue/Thur/Sat: 05:30-09:10, 11:00-13:40, 17:10-01:00
EK have a codeshares on a daily TG flight to DXB at 4:40pm and on QF to SYD Mo/We/Fr/SA, so the latter may explain why they keep the lounge open on those days when there are no EK metal flights between 2pm and 9pm.

This is my exact question - I am flying today BKK to SYD on QF24 and am QF Gold. Fingers crossed no issues with the EK lounge!

Flew same flight on Monday - no problem with EK lounge access. In fact I was advised of both options at the transfer desk when getting my QF BP.

The EK lounge has taken over the footprint of the old Qantas Business lounge, across from where the CX lounge was/will be.

Hi all
I am in the EK lounge now - absolutely no issue. I got to the airport at 2:30pm, check-in was open (flight departure is 6:10pm so I thought check-in might have been closed) - was through priority lane screening and passport control very fast and entered the lounge at 3pm - no problem at all. Check-in agent gave both options as well at check-in. Lounge very quiet, total of 8 people here at the moment but I expect it will get busier as we get closer to departure.

I didn't know that the Emirates lounge was in the same space as the old Qantas Business Lounge. Used to frequent the Qantas Business Lounge often when all I had was Qantas Club membership. Was really gutted when it closed all those years ago.

Food and drinks are of the usual EK high standard.

Does anyone have recent experience with *A lounges at BKK? From what I can tell, the SQ and BR lounges remain closed, leaving an assortment of TG lounges and TK. I presume the various massage offerings and spa facilities are still unavailable?

Have a long layover between international TG flights (in J) in early July. Will have time to hop between lounges for food, but will eventually be looking for a shower and a quiet corner to relax.

There's some current discussion of this over on FT which might help.

Just bumping this old thread.
Will be travelling on QF296 next week in Y (fingers crossed that my upgrade comes through). I have Qantas platinum status.
Being a 18:10 departure I believe my options will be the Cathay Lounge, Emirates Lounge or the JAL lounge?

I was there a couple of weeks ago. Went to the CX lounge as I wanted noodles and dumplings. I think a later CX flight was cancelled so they closed the lounge and kicked us out. Went to the EK lounge. I didn't eat but the food options looks very decent.

EK, CX and Miracle lounge are all basically next to each other.

EK lounge has Moet. Didn't look at the wine options in the CX lounge.

Any recommendation for purchased lounge access at BKK?
We're transiting in June for about 5.5 hours with no lounge entitlement (IST- BKK, then self transfer BKK-MEL). Though maybe I'm overestimating free time as will need to clear customs and pickup/recheck luggage..
