As a redux to Downgraded from Business Class.

I'm considering placing an upgrade bid from an Economy Saver class to Business. The flight is QF95 Melbourne to LA Friday night at 10pm. Its the 787-9 flight. I'd love to get some tips on upgrade strategy.

My gut is that given the time time of the flight that it might be highly competitive...

I would put an upgrade request.
Perhaps, if you also have a bit of insight on the flight loadings through expertflyer, that can make your decision easier on whether you want to bid the minimum or put a bit more of cash/points?

I got a successful one from MEL-SIN last May putting the minimum points and cash, but that was as I knew that the loadings were relatively light.

Good luck!
