Just wondering what websites people use these days to get a comparison of airfares from the gamut of international airlines to a destination? Usually I'm booking on the QF website but this time I need to look at a wide range of options.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I like to use Google flights and Skyscanner
They are my go-tos, google being first.

There used to be a site called bestflights that collated some great prices but its gone now and I haven't found a decent replacement.

This forum on AFF sometimes comes up with some crackers but obviously not destination-specific

Thanks everyone - those two sights have helped enormously. Andye - I remember Bestflights now - used to be a great resource!

One of the features on Google flights I only recently discovered is the ability to choose multiple cities for origin, destination and/or transits
Eg you can search flights from all of SYD MEL and BNE
THAT would be very handy!

Also available is the ITA - for most is it the beta test version of Google flights. (ITA was bought out by Google maybe a decade ago)

Also, there are some scripts that can be applied with it to actually create a routing (some esoteric) and libnks are set up to book them directly with the airline.

Powertools:

Tips and techniques:

After having been caught by third parties several times, sure - use the mentioned sources to research your flight requirements but book directly with the airline. Third party bookings are just that.
No recourse if something goes off the rails.

I find it preferable to research using ITA Matrix and then go same day to my travel agent.

I use Skyscanner, but then you have to look at the sites it finds the cheap fares on and decide how shonky they are. Where possible I'll find the itinerary on Skyscanner then try to book it direct with the airline. Momondo and Ebookers are not bad.

I use Skyscanner. I have used google flights previously however sometimes the prices are out of date when it comes to actually booking the flight.
