Best way to redeem points?

Is it best to convert your points from credit card to an airline and then redeem your flight or go through the bank-my case Altitude Points?

Most people here would suggest you move them to your preferred FF program. Typically, the bank awards for travel are extremely poor value.

Altitude won't let you transfer to Qantas, so you'll be looking at VA or SQ mainly. VA sometimes have bonus offers where they add 30% to a bank transfer, but we've not seen one in a little while.

Of course, YMMV. It does depend where you want to go, in which cabin, and how many people. VA have some of the best 'taxes fees and surcharges' on international redemptions, and typically have excellent availability.

VA seem to run a 15% bonus every 6 months or so, I reckon we're due for one soon.
