Nope, you'd have to rule out El Al too. In 1992, a 747F's engine came loose killing 43.
I've flown El Al twice (BKK-TLV and TLV-HGK) and won't be in a rush to fly them again. Old aircraft and less-than-friendly FAs. It was a relief to get onto a QF A380 at HKG... :)

*BTW I think El Al are perfectly safe.

The accident in AMS was LY cargo plane IIRC.
I agree with your comments, nothing appealing about them apart from their safety record. I've been on LY in all classes and wasn't impressed by anything onboard, even their F class is an old 2-2-2 config!
I would not hesitate to pay extra and fly QF.

Yep, it was a 742F. I imagine that they would be maintained by the same guys who'd do the passenger versions, though. I couldn't see El Al outsourcing their maintenance to a contractor in Hong Kong. :)

Avoiding RJ makes things quite difficult.

You can fly the long way round, QF MEL-LAX, US LAX-PHL-TLV. But AA is axing TLV in January.

When CX get around to launching HKG-TLV that will be a huge change benefiting all Israeli travelers.

With LY flying daily to HKG I can't see that happening any time soon, the market is just not big enough.

I do hope to see direct service from Japan at some point by JAL or ANA (no LY flights on that route). The only Asian airline who flys direct to TLV is Korean Air who is unfortunately member of SkyTeam :(

Anyone tried S7 from Moscow?
