Best way to get Krisflyer points? Altitude better? Life Miles?

It's not really ideal to make miles with a signature card as the return isn't high enough.

For a Citibank Signature Visa ultimately earning 1 KF per dollar, that is about as good as you can get AFAIK.

It's 1.5 Citibank reward points per dollar, then 1.5 Citibank reward points = 1 KF. You earn the same if you convert to Velocity so if you then convert Velocity to KF, you lose out on the 1.35:1 transfer.

As ilsan already has 170k points, there isn't any other cost effective way of converting those points.

WW EDR MC earns 1 QFF per dollar - I don't know of any Australian Visa/MC besides that which earns 1:1 to any airline currency...?

Comparing AMEX earn to Visa/MC isn't quite fair, as you probably already know.

In comparison to what, it's effectively a 1:1 Visa which is about as good as it gets ( bearing in mind these are SQ PoInts rather than largely worthless QF currency).

Hi guys, I am still getting multiple PM's asking me about the trick to purchase KF miles at 1.6 cents each. As I have specifically said in the previous posts that I have to put a stop on it as my inbox is still being flooded with requests. So please do not PM me any more as I won't reply. I have already revealed the trick to more than 20 fellow members, so if anyone of them would be happy to take up the burden that is fine by me.

Please accept my apology.

So you join in Jan 2012, but have this as your second post in Dec 2014: "shouldnt we all share with other members any tricks and tips".

Maybe a little bit of practice what you preach could be in order????

If i had a tip, it'll be here.
Unfortunately all i have is already common knowledge here

I was one of the recipients, and whilst I'm not into manufactured spend I can share if people send a PM. I feel like you've got to give a little to get a little so no one less than 100 posts- try someone else!

I would appreciate if anyone could also PM me the details about the trick, thanks! =)

I'll bump this post with a request to be PM'd the trick also please :)

As for the aforementioned 100 posts minimum, I don't want to post garbage on here just to meet the requirement. Suffice to say that if I do post, it has some use or value - even if it is asking a question which someone might have already asked before.

Wow! I started this thread asking the best way to get Krisflyer miles, and I don't know the trick! I'll go for a PM as well, if anyone can send to me please.

Not sure how different I am, but it seems to get good points earn, you need to run your own business so you can use a card to pay your tax and business expenses. However I'm not a business owner these days, just a lowly employee, so all I could do was pay my tax return with the card.

So what action have I taken on this? I did an analysis of my spend each month and what my requirements are (best points earn on my current spending). Seems a lot of utilities etc demand a credit card surcharge, so I'm not paying extra, they can continue to direct debt from a real money account.

I took up the offer on the AMEX PLATINUM EDGE card of no annual fee, and 3 points per dollar for supermarket shopping. At approx $1200 per month, I'll now be getting 2400 more points per month, transfer to KF at 1:1.

I've also opened a CITIBANK SIGNATURE VISA card - Reduced annual fee of $299 (for life if I recall), a sign on bonus of 60K points and 1.5 points per dollar for Aus merchants and a whopping 4 point per dollar for overseas merchants. And Singapore Airlines is an overseas vendor, so... Transfer to KF at 1.5:1. So my minumum KF points earn is now 1 point per dollar.

I calculated quickly on an average month I'll now earn at least 6000 KF points where previously I'd have earned about 3000. I'm now looking at how I can increase my spend through the card... any tips that won't bankrupt me are welcome!

Find a relative who pays tax and pay it for them so long as they give you the cash. Don't use the cards you have to pay tax!! You have a pm :)

That is exactly my KF strategy as well. Though my Signature card is fee free for life - no sign on bonus at that time though.

Sometimes there might be the odd sign on bonus for other cards that could assist the points earning. For example, recently David Jones American Express had a sign on bonus of 30,000 that converts to 15,000 KF points. For a small annual fee, I think $99, I received 15,000 points. Multiple that by my partner and me, that's 30,000 KF for $200.00.

Stupid newbie question and an amateur one at that. Whats the easest Ktis Flyer card to get ? Ill only be joing Singapore because i can transfer points over to my Virgin velocity card. Please help me as according to SA webpage there is heap of options. Miles and smiles, miles plus etc etc.i dont fly all the time and iprobably travel once a year on international flights.

That seems a strange idea Ja1402. You lose value transferring from KF points to Virgin, and you can get plenty of Virgin points on various cards already. IMO it's harder to get KF points than VA points, so getting them to transfer seems a waste of effort. Both the cards I listed, AMEX platinum Edge and Citibank VIsa can be transferred directly to VA points. So they would be good.
