Travelling BN-LAX at end of October Business Q15 747-400. Are some seats better situated than others on upper deck? Saved to pay for these so don't want the worst seat at the highest price.
How long is the flight?
'tis ok for an hour or three, but foot room decreases on the left by about 10cm laterally as the fuselage narrows going forward.
I guess 2D, 1E and 1F are already gone?
8 hours-ish : CNS-NRT
Does the fuselage narrow that much? Looking at seat map it looks like the narrowing starts at/after the bulkhead. I'm not that concerned about the lateral space though - the length (for my beautiful legs) is my main concern...
Did, or does, alcohol help at all?Up to you; I found it an issue MEL-BKK some time ago; caused minor discomfort - resolved by standing up and walking a bit.
Given your physique, any row 1 seat or 2D would suit you. Of course that means flying on JQ!Did, or does, alcohol help at all?
I know it is sad but I find with a little alcohol most seats on a plane are roughly the same. YMMV....
Let's say that choice will remain out of the equation as long as JQ is part of the QF group.Given your physique, any row 1 seat or 2D would suit you. Of course that means flying on JQ!
If you want to sit on the upper deck, then the only difference between seats is that row 11 is the bulk-head right at the front and row 16 is the emergence exit.
Unless you have Qantas Platinum FF status, you are unlikely to be able to pre-allocated row 16. It may become available at on-line check-in time, but don't hold your breath for it.
Row 11 is also the bassinet position, so is also generally held back from pre-allocation availability.
Otherwise just select an available seat of the aisle/window preference and enjoy the trip.
But do check out the seat map for the day you are flying as its possible (but unlikely) it could be operated by a 4-class aircraft with an F cabin sold as business class.

Roughly on topic.
I am on QF016 soon in J. I have chosen/allocated an "A" seat with no seat seat showing as a "B" seat. When queried, QF said it was standard J.
Can any colleagues, "please explain"?
The seat map shows 1 + 2 + 1
