I'm a frequent user of Lifemiles, and have a good stash of other FFP miles to use. I normally would just go all the way PER-TYO in J with LM but would like a night potentially in BKK.

Anyone have any better suggestions for a one way awards that allows a free stopover?
Alaska, United, AA etc?

Are you going to be returning from Tokyo to Perth (or anywhere in South-East Asia) at the end of the trip? If so, have a look at Alaskan miles. You can fly BKK-TYO (stopover) then TYO-SIN, TYO-KUL or TYO-CGK, for example, all in J for 25,000 miles. Obviously you'd need to make your own way between Perth and BKK.

Otherwise, this doesn't work with LifeMiles but with most other *A programs (e.g. United, KrisFlyer) you can stop in BKK for up to 24 hours and it doesn't count as a stopover. The routing would have to be PER-BKK on TG, then BKK-HND/NRT with TG or NH.
