Just heading off to Changi shortly for a 19:55 flight on QF in J (QF6) to SYD. Just wondering which lounge is my best option this evening. I am QF SG and AA Plat so I think I can use any oneworld lounge. Are there any other oneworld lounges other than the QP(which I think is joint with BA)? On the Cathay site they refer to a skyview lounge. I dont remember that last time but I wasnt looking :)

QF lounge is much better than CX lounge (whose sole redeeming feature is the view of the apron).

The best lounge IMHO is SQ F, although to be fair I haven't visited the new EK lounge (EK was using Skyview when I flew them from SIN).

Qantas Business Class lounge is your best bet. The only other OneWorld lounge is CX and it is not as good as QF's lounge at SIN.

Thanks - when I was last at SIN the QP was very full - and I was very tired so it didnt look so much fun. I will see how we go today. A little shopping to do before the lounge visit - but I might leave SIN a little early and get to the airport to relax :)

Its always busy on a Friday evening.

I think most lounges are when I fly - generally flying out on early evening flight on a Friday and middle of the day Sunday (int'l). One of those things as a business traveller. Also means planes are full as well.

Not that I am complaining - just an observation. F Lounge next week which should be nicer (except SYD) and then next experience hopes to be F lounge if I upgrade SYD-LAX using points.

So what would happen as you were checking in if you said to the check in staff to check your FF number, found that it was your QF number and asked to change to your AA number. He asks "what status sir?" You answer honestly "Platinum AAf4567f4". He hands you a boarding pass and as you check it you notice it has "oneworld emerald" on it.

You wonder if you try and go to the f lounge if they will let you.

I have to say the f lounge champagne is a lot nicer than J ;)

As the saying goes "Nice things happen to nice people"

Thanks - and guess what the first thing I couldnt wait to do was? Jump on line to share it with AFF :D

Yeah the Qantas lounge is much better than the Skyview one (As Kiwi Flyer says, The Skyview's main redeeming feature is the view of planes!

The Qantas F lounge seems to open up a couple of hours after the J lounge each day. Something to keep in mind if wanting to visit the lounge when arriving early at the airport (May have to sit in the J lounge for a cpl of hours).

Enjoy your Flounging experience! :)

Actually that was Kiwi Flyer.

If it was me posting I would say the Dim Sum at the Skyview lounge is quite nice, certainly better than many lounges, and, IMHO better than that of the J QP. It is definately a redeeming feature.

I guess it's all moot however as the intrepid simong scored FLounge access. (He would be QF6'ing back to Oz about now). :D

A little more than that! Here is where not everyone agrees. Many people would say who the hell is this JohnK fellow and what the hell does he know about lounges.

I have visited the Skyview lounge on a few occassions in the last year and although the QF lounge is much bigger I would rather visit the Skyview lounge anytime. You hardly ever see any kids in the Skyview lounge. I cannot stand trying to read e-mails or posting to AFF while all the brats hog the computer terminals playing internet games with the volume at full blast. Oh where oh where are the parents. Same old story with QF lounges. No one to police, no one to care. Thank you for caring Skyview!

At this stage I am thankful to Finnair for choosing to partner with the Skyview lounge rather than the QF lounge.

My bad! Sorry Serfty, I've updated my post!

Agree about the Dim Sum, but don't really think packet noodles and steamed Dim Sum make up for what the Qantas F lounge has (or some of the features at the J lounge)

I still remember eating snacks in the F lounge as they were being brought around, and then being served the same snacks on the BA F flight home!!

True, mrs serfty were presented with little plates of (very nice) Rendang and rice before jumping onto QF10 back to MEL in Jan... Certainly did not get rendang in WHY!)

This is where QF drops the ball in Oz, there is nothing like that, even in the F Lounges.

It was a very nice experience. I will have to compare it to my F experience next week ;)
