Pacific (Gold Coast) Air Show 2026

Next morning I work to see scattered showers passing through the area.

Not ideal for the type of flying that was planned.

Once again I briefly considered a conservative breakfast but quickly came to my senses and hit the buffet hard!

Omelette, bacon, hash browns, some fruit, a pastry and two coffees.

What could possibly go wrong while flying inverted and pulling several G?

When we arrived at OOL things were looking pretty bleak.

The sky looked a lot like the Poseidon taxiing to RWY14… nothing but grey.



Still, I remained hopeful that things might clear up so headed over to check out my ride for the day.





I had been assigned 1A but the seat width and legroom in the Extra 300L looked tight.

Really tight.



However, I had heard the inflight entertainment was really good, so perhaps it would be worth it.

Waiting for the weather to clear allowed us some time to check out the flightline.

I also checked out the Zivko Edge 540 that Matt Hall flies in his solo displays and st the Red Bull Air Race.

As the briefing time came and went things were not looking good.

As another heavy squall of rain passed over the field, the call was made.

The flight was cancelled.

It was pretty disappointing, but of course you can’t control the weather.

Matt and his team, along with the Accor marketing staff have offered to reschedule, and we are still discussing options.

The most likely scenario is waiting until next year’s airshow.

Now that I have read your post #24, bet you are glad you had that decent brekky @Captain Halliday
