Out of all the airlines that fly direct from SYD/LAX what airline has the best economy seat? Leg room is more important to me than recline and I really don't care about the food and/or entertainment.

I would like direct flights as I need to go for only 4-5 days. I'm use to flying long haul business so this is a new thing for me. I have points on Qantas, Air New Zealand and Amex but as I would like to go in the next 2 months there is little available and I seem to be able to get a better package deal than using points after factoring in points.

Thanks

Qantas Row 77D Or For The Real Long legged u cannot beat an exit row! There is an app called seat Guru where you will have the benefits of everbodies feedback.

Sorry i understand this is about legroom...

Im not so sure that the 777 9 across Y seat has width of 18.5 as suggested by seat guru.

Seat Guru suggests 777 10 across has a seat width of 17.8 in and a 747 and A380 10 across Y has a seat width of 17.5 inch. However my understanding is the interior width of 777 is shorter than 747/380?

VA quote 18.5 inches on their website and I believe this is the standard for a 77W at 9 across (Seatguru has SQ at 19 inches).

Yes all 777 9 across seem to have this metric in seat guru as well

The same website also quotes 777 10 across = 17.8, but 747/380 10 across as 17.5
10 seats in a smaller width cabin but wider seats than an aircraft which has wider cabin and 10 seats?

So which is right. I have no idea.

777 cabin width 5.8m
747 cabin width 6.1m
A380 cabin width 6.5m

At the end of the day, the VA 77W has a greater seat pitch AND more seat width in Y than the competing QF 380.

Suggest QF and pay extra for an exit row, do it via their website to be more assured you'll get what you want.
