If you have a credit limit >= 12k, it is just a product change. The staff in the Perth branch are trying to find the PDS for me so I can transfer.

I sent a message via Bankmail on Tuesday night and got a reply within a day saying to just fill out the form that came in the mail.

As you appear to be in the 'inner circle', do you know if the FX surcharges will be waived on the World like the they are for the Platinum? This is the biggest selling point for me over other 1:1 earn MC/Visa cards (even the Citi Signature for free). I easily cover my current $99 annual fee with the FX savings (if you spend more than AUD3350 on FX in a year, which I can do in a single trip with flights, hotels etc).

I've just been on an online chat with Bankwest. Foreign transaction fees are waived on the World Card.

It also offers:

  • Up to 15% off at participating Hertz car hire locations world-wide
  • Up to 12 months Complimentary Travel Insurance - refer to Complimentary Travel Insurance terms and conditions for further details (More Platinum customers only receive up to 6 months)

I also asked about annual fees for switching and was told that I would receive a refund of any fee paid so far and then charged the World fee of $220. This is a contradiction of what someone else has been told!

I had a phone call with Bankwest and went into a branch and enquried about annual fee when changing from Plat to World. Both reps told me that if an annual fee had already been charged it would not be refunded. However, if an annual fee was already charged for the year, the world mastercard fee would not be charged. They both indicated that if I was charged another fee after changing to the World Mastercard, I could call up and have it refunded.

Any idea which locations will be "participating"?

Filled out the paperwork and now waiting for the World to arrive. Quoted ten business days. New card is black and has a QF logo on it (opposed to the existing non descript card). New card number of course. 1:1 earn, no capping, no FX charges, 12mth insurance. I believe they said the cash advance fee was only 1% instead of the stock 2% but this needs to be confirmed.

Things to note are the annual fee is $220 for the QF card and $190 for the More card and the free Priority Pass membership is only on the More card, not the QF card. So you pay more with the QF card to get less...... I suppose this is their QF fee that others charge separately.

Well I got a letter from Bankwest today offering me a free upgrade to the World card. Since I'm on the $99 grandfathered rate I have to say this is a pretty good offer considering the added benefits.

So as an exception I won't be cancelling the card this time ;)

Nice. Here's hoping I get a letter too!!

Just applied, let's see where it goes from here... have the grandfathered $99 annual fee too on the platinum

I just submitted a request on my Zero card. The worst they can do is say no.

Same. I applied for the upgrade yesterday evening. My annual fee isn't as low as the $99 you have but it is lower than the current annual fee for the Platinum card so if I get to keep that with the World card, I'll be happy.

I got the offer yesterday and have my fingers crossed my negotiated annual fee ($0) will continue on my new World card. I'm not convinced though as both years I've had my BW Platinum I've had to ask for the fee to be refunded as the system seems incapable of permanently recognising a zero fee (my home loan is with BW and I negotiated the fee-free credit card as a sweetener).

I'm excited as I just got rid of my CBA Diamond and the only aspect I was sad about was the loss of the 'World' card benefits (I couldn't continue to justify the $395 annual fee when the QF earn on Mastercard was so poor).

Is it a complete homeloan package?

I just got an offer in the mail to move to the new World MC for no additional cost.

We'd like to upgrade you to the World Mastercard with no change to your existing annual fee, interest rate or credit limit as a result of accepting this invitation

Me too ... I jumped ahead and put the upgrade request online before I received the upgrade mail offer. Now, can't wait to receive this new 'black' card as my current Platinum card has got it's plastic outer layer peeling off. Hope it's made of better material that doesn't peel off.

I know, I know... #firstworldproblem

Is it a complete homeloan package?

No, it is the online homeloan so a better rate than the complete. Shows the benefit of pushing for that extra incentive to bring your mortgage over - I was happy enough with a free Platinum card but the World MC is a further unexpected bonus.

I received my letter today to upgrade for free. They must be targeting all existing Platinum card holders who have the required minimum credit limit. BW offered me an increase months ago, but I only took it up when I heard about this new card so that I would qualify.
