Have just booked a QFF flight SYD-ADL on Jetstar as QF aren’t flying the route direct. When I checked the 9600 + $30 fare it states includes baggage. Great I thought as I wouldn’t have to get involved in the “bundles”. When the email ticket arrived it said baggage was 0 x 20kg cabin baggage with a tick.

Is my interpretation correct In that baggage is NOT included I QFF bookings on Jetstar or am I missing some obvious?

I also had a QF Reward booking on JQ last month and I must admit I didn't look at the e-ticket as I was travelling with hand luggage only. But my JQ boarding pass did have the code "BG20"... Hope that helps?

Ok thanks. I’ll have a real good look at the tkt. It’s a bit rich if I have to pay for baggage. Thanks for the quick reply 😷

Go into Manage my booking on Qantas.com, click for flight detail and get the Jeststar booking reference.

Use this to look up the booking on Jetstar MMB .

Scroll down to "Checked Baggage" and click on "View Details"

I have such an award and when I do that I see beside my name: 1598933675734.png

Fab. I’ll look into it again. I went to the Jetstar MMB immediately after I made the booking and it showed 0 x 20kgs. Me thinks it just takes time for the two systems to communicate 🤞😷

Another tip - I took a gamble by not checking in online and the kiosk assigned me an emergency exit row seat...

Am contemplating booking a JQ flight as a QFF classic reward, so this is good to know.

I will be keeping an eye on the route though and if they add QF flights, i will cancel the reward and rebook the QF metal. As i noticed with my recent BNK trip future dates only had one QFF flight landing at an inconvenient time, but in the immediate future (2 weeks) they had added 2 extra QF metal flights per day, as from SYD very few choices to fly to.

Have rechecked Jetstar MMB and now showing 20kgs lynx 1 oversize item. So all good. Thanks serfty and AIRwin for sorting this out for me. 👍😷
I've made some Jetstar/Classic rewards bookings for young relatives, and there are "clear" contradictions as to whether checked luggage is included... Jetstar staff could clearly show that luggage is not included and customer can similarly show that it is. From bitter experience, I have a very very very very low opinion of Jetstar customer service, and I'm concerned that these young girls will be intimidated at check-in. Have you completed the flight? Did you have any issues checking in bags? Thanks.

Hi Brissy1

Yes we’re just completed our second flight and confirm that luggage was included. We also paid for upfront seats. I printed out the Jetstar booking showing we had 20kgs of luggage and confirmed the seat selection. So all good. The was no hassle at the airport.

As an aside we had to cancel another one of these bookings and yes you probably guessed getting a refund for a seat selection was the usual ....... QF said call JQ and naturally JQ said call QF. In the end I gave up as I didn’t need the agro.

Goof luck

Ops good luck

Thanks that's comforting that you didn't have any issues. It's syd-mcy flights so will have to cancel if qld is still self isolating and curiously I had also already made up my mind not to waste time getting seat selection cost back from Jetstar

Just for 100% piece of mind with the 20kgs go to the Jetstar site using the Jetstar PNR and print the page about baggage allowance. Always good to have that piece of paper to show the agents.

Good luck

So I booked a JQ flight as a QFF classic reward yesterday, and during the booking process it clearly states checked baggage is included. Was subsequently surprised when logging into to JQ to check the booking and it said cabin baggage only. Then checked the QF issued e-ticket and sure enough it says 0 checked baggage.
So called QF and the operator said, and I quote, "checked in baggage is always included when you book a JQ flight via QF. It's an IT issue that's been around for over a year." The operator said he could add a note to the booking stating baggage is included for good measure.

I will also cancel and re-book if QF metal becomes available...

Exactly the same as my experience - booked a QFF reward on JQ a couple of weeks back for Xmas eve - after I located my JQ PNR I looked up the booking on the JQ website and was concerned that it said zero checked bags included. I had saved a screenshot from the QFF app that said otherwise in case I ran into ignorant check in staff at TSV. But after this informative thread I checked the JQ website again and the booking has indeed been updated to include 20kg per pax. Thanks guys

So for the process of getting the bags included on these tickets is:
-Booking gets made through Qantas system
-QF's booking system then generates a booking on the JQ system
-JQs system uses a droid to go through all bookings to see how they have been booked, or what should be included and then that droid adds an SSR element (which puts the additional baggage in). From what i remember this droid works once or twice per day.

Those SSRs are those 4 letter codes that you see on JQ boarding passes, like IFOO, BG20, VGML etc etc
