Back to Silver - what about my Qantas Club membership?

Serfty, if you come across an almost expired invite, I could use one please ...
SWMBO had been PG for 3 years and BiS Gold for one.

BEfore that she had been QP - but it expired and I did not renew about six weeks prior to becoming PG.

(that reminds me - there's an unused invite around somewhere about to expire.)

I am in a similar boat paid QF club member that got to gold and is looking like I won't get back there. Hoping QF keep good records as I had about 3 years to run.... got a renewal pay for 1 get 1 free so i did it twice :)

they keep good records. As I pointed out above, my Qantas club membership was suspended for 8 or 9 years and they still worked it out at the end of all that.

Don't you also get a free 3 month QP pass when you drop from SG? Or does that only apply to people who did not have paid QP in the bank?
I have also read about the free 3 moths Qantas club trial offer and it appears to be targetted to people who do not have outstanding Qantas club membership to fall back on. Qantas would be hoping you would purchase Qantas club at the end of the 3 month trial.

Would be nice to know the criteria but somehow I don't think we will find out.

also given to people with outstanding QF club.

I just dropped to PS from SG (I was well off requal so never expected to be comp'ed), and in my pack was the single QP invite, and the opportunity to join the QP (never been a member) with the initial joining fee waived if I sign up in the next couple of months (I think it was 3 months, but don't have it here to check).

My wife has been QP member previously - and looks like she'll be dropping from SG to PS early 2015, so interesting to see what happens then.

A week or so back my new 'lifetime' silver card turned up with a separate QP card which is valid until May 2015 so I'm in the clear for a while. Also got a QP "complimentary invitation" valid to January 2016. Not sure what that's for but I guess if I let the QP lapse I can get in one more time for old times' sake.

So which card do I carry? Both?

Depends how you board/enter lounges.

If the first thing you do is head to the lounge, to collect your BP, you'd probably be best with the QP card as that shows you're at least a valid member, while a PS card, regardless of lifetime, wouldn't account for much.

If you collect your BP at the check-in desks, perhaps your lifetime PS card will wow them more, then use your BP to gain lounge access.
