Hi al

I know that you can take on board baby related liquids/gels that dont need to conform to the 100ml/1L limits but I was nt sure on how you shoud carry them.

We will be travelling with about 7/8 sachets of baby goo, Panadol and some other baby related cough and wasn't sure if it was worth bagging it separately.

Any thoughts?

We took 4 bottles with water, and a seperate container with the formula powder in, plus a bottle of juice and some baby food jars, all in a plastic box.

PER no probs, told not to bothertaking it out of the bag, they just shouted to each other "baby stuff"

SIN also no real probs, didn't have to take out. However mrs left a bottle in handbag, they did make her take that out for a look

LHR transfer - what a pita. Take everything out of bags, put in the tubs, take a drink from ALL baby liquids (good thing no breast milk), all shoes off. I HATE LHR

Most airports around the world (except LHR/LCY etc) are understanding.

It is best to take all baby stuff out and put it in a separate box.

We flew through LCY last year with bub 1 and they wanted everything tasted. They were not willing to budge. I said never again.

All subsequent Europe travel has been via FRA, HEL and MAD where they are very understanding.

In USA they are fairly understanding although in some places baby food/infant formula will automatically trigger a secondary examination which is essentially bomb testing of all liquid containers (they are not opened), hand baggage and a pat down. This is only a shock the first time it happens.

I reiterate - best to take all baby stuff out of bags - that way they are less paranoid and can't accuse you of hiding something.

And avoid LHR/LCY etc.

Not sure what baby goo is, but from the talk about taste testing then I would suggest taking a couple of extra sachets for that purpose.

We travelled with formula, which doesn't sound like you are, which was dosed into little tuperware boxes to be added to bottle contained water as needed. This requires extra equipment and bottles. But it is far easier in the middle of "airplane night" between SIN and LHR to ask for a bottle to be warmed and tip in the formula, than to stuff around washing a bottle, filling with water and then measuring out the formula.

I'd forgotten til reading this thread, LHR T5 security made us taste the baby food jars (for LHR-CDG). At least the child-friendly sections of the BA lounges kinda made up for it. Didn't have any probs BNE, SIN, CDG, Venice or Dusseldorf. In Venice we were getting ready to go through security, and I realised we still had a water bottle (not for Miss 18mth old). I was about to throw it out when security todl me it was ok, for the bambina. :) Love Italy with a child.
LHR T5 security were just really horrid. DH was really unimpressed at having to open sealed baby food jars, then eat it, and then us not being able to refrigerate the opened jars, like you're meant to. I think he may have tried ranting about this potentially poisioning our little one.
I don't remember having the same kind of issues at T4 for our LHR-SIN flight on the way home, but I may have gotten rid of jarred food by then, as I had an idea of the kid's meals on QF and probably more crackers, etc, in my bag.

Absolutely no questions asked re baby goo (aka tubes and sachets of pureed food) - didn't even need to take it out the bag. Now asleep in abudiness room in the f lounge whilst mum tries to gets spa treatment due to flight delay...
