Qantas is an airline not hotel .

I’m surprised. Airlines don’t build hotels just for delays .
Who said an airline builds a hotel?
You are clearly delusional.
You likely need a psychiatric forum, not a frequent flyer one.
SMH.

The question was the basis to compare if Y/J/F got the same amount..

I've seen other airlines cover much more, not that you and your straw man have the ability to understand.

Sorry for starting another topic there

i didn’t realise we comparing amounts of compensation . Let’s wait in see .

I would ask for same day flight on another airline in the class I have booked .

Whilst this is true, don't forget there is often a $200 or so excess which would eat up most of any 1 night hotel claim so it's not worth claiming.
Fair. There are decent policies with nil excess for these events, though (including some that come Complimentary with credit cards). Made several claims last year on my NAB CC insurance with nil excess for the hotel charges.

Huh? Why should the pax need to call on their travel insurance (with attendant significant hassle) because of a fault in Qantas' fleet? (and as they are offering some accommodation, they are accepting responsibility).

Actually, Qantas does sell hotel rooms along side their selling airline tickets.

And where on earth did the concept of 'building hotels just for delays' come from?

Very strange.

And I have stayed in many hotels owned at least partly by JAL and ANA. Back in the old days flying to the US from Australia on a Japanese airline the fare included a night in a NRT hotel. The standard of room depended on which cabin you flew in.
