Just choosing seats etc. for my March trip and am facing some challenges on the BA website. I have my amadeus reference and all is ok - FF number is there. But on the 14 flights - 3 of which are BA - I am not able to select seats like I used to on BA? Is this a status thing?

In a related question - do CX have a seat selection option? Or is it just call them like QF?

If you have no access to seat selection on BA's MMB, then it probably means that your status hasnt managed to make its way to the booking. Give BA a call and get them to add to and verify that the status is there and you will be able to select seats

CX seats can be allocated by calling CX reservations on the phone.

Thanks both - I will recheck BA in the morning to see if status has updated. A couple of calls will be going in to CX/QF and then I need to request an upgrade for the QF HKG-SYD flight.

ALthough I need to think about that - is it really worth 25K points just to sleep all the way home.... the only real benefit will be the F lounge access... and a nice glass of bubbles to lull me to sleep...

How valuable is your time when you arrive back in SYD...if you need to go straight to work, then I'd say the points upgrade is very worthwhile. If not going to work, then it's line ball.

I wont be at work the day I get back - I will go home home (flight arrives at 7:55AM) unpack (deemed to be work related activity), shower, doze for an hours and then work from home in the afternoon.

I agree its a marginal call - I think its more the F lounge access and the start of the flight that is important.

Hmm - now I am wondering if I have an F boarding pass in my hand when I leave LCA whether I can brandish that around to get F lounge access in LHR... probably not ;)

An F boarding pass HKG/SYD will be useless. The "magical" access to F lounge in LHR is an F boarding pass LHR/...

or of course an FF card with a green splodge on it ;) .

I have been leaving for the office most days at 6:00 so have been forgetting to try my sob-story with AA - trying to beg for EXP - but now have slightly more convincing argument. They will see my bookings for current year (ticketed today). That will show between 27 Oct and 4 April (5.5 months) over 150K qpoints at about 1.45 ratio - that slightly more pursuasive - but still very unlikely - than just missing qualification...

Green splodge doesn't always help, I was directed upstairs to the J lounge by the lounge dragon who was male because I had a J boarding pass, wasn't interested in my card with the green splodge. Didn't argue because I headed straight downstairs for a quick shower before running to board my next flight.

Indeed, it is sometimes our responsibility as travellers to educate the lounge staff.
