I'll be traveling to NY in economy with BA next week. Having looked at the LHR terminal 5 website it explains that fastrack security clearance is available for Club World, Club Europe and for Executive Club Silver members. Does this also apply for oneworld sapphire members?

I also understand that there is dedicated check in for those traveling in first and for BA Gold members. Are there any dedicated check in areas for sapphire members similar to the way in which Qantas operate?

thanks

Yes. In fact, I was able to use fast-track with OW Ruby last year. And as OW sapphire you are entitled to use the dedicated club world check-in.

It's inconsistent.

oneworld Sapphires should be able to check-in at or Business class (BA Club (World/Europe)) counters. Of course, for either you may be directed first to a kiosk to get a boarding pass and then told to line up for bag drop.

BA - sometimes "maliciously" and sometimes through ignorance - flout the oneworld alliance rules. If BA staff forget the rules then a gentle reminder may help but if they want to be stubborn it's best left alone; any form of aggression (however little) may result in your being put away.

Strictly, Fast Track is only for BA customers (Club and First class; BAEC Gold, not sure about Silver) - "fast track" in airports is not a stipulated oneworld benefit - but if you get waved through then that's a bonus. When I went through T5 myself I was in Club Europe so got through; ISTR there was a oneworld elite (Sapphire or Emerald) behind me in the line, who was told that they had to go to the regular line. Of course, the anecdotal evidence suggested already shows that it is possible to get in as a oneworld elite.

Edit: Seems that one of our stalwart members has had some "success" using Fast Track as a oneworld elite (or rather, confirmed with BA that they can use the said line). I'd just try your luck and if you get knocked back, then tough - no point being a roadblock in the security line arguing the point.
