Hello - I am new here so please excuse the very basic question. I have trawled through the forums, but can't find the answer. Next Friday, I am flying from LHR - SING (QF3346 - operated by BA) and then SING - MEL (QF10 - operated by Qantas) - 2 hour stop over. Will I be able to check in through to Melbourne on BA's online booking system? When I logged in to the site it was showing all my flights (even though only 1 is operated by BA). Is it going to be better to check in at Heathrow as the desk will check me through to Melbourne.

Any advice gratefully received.

Hi
I did exactly the same routing/flights on 22 Dec.
BA's online check-in would only let me check in and do seat selection (which I had already done) for the BA sector LHR-SIN. When I checked in with BA at LHR they checked my bags to MEL, but only issued me with a Boarding Pass for LHR-SIN. I then went to QF check-in counter a few feet away and was issued with the BP for SIN-MEL. All very painless.
Hope this helps.

In May '07, I had a booking on the BA flight number for their codeshare on QF1.

I was able to use Ba's MMB to select seats on the QF metal flight (but not exit seats - I had to call QF to do that).

Rocket, serfty - many thanks.

Rocket - it all sounds straightforward - thank you. When you say that BA issued you with a boarding pass do you mean you didn't bother checking in online and just checked in as normal at the airport? Sorry, the freezing cold weather in London is making me a bit confused!!

Thanks in advance

Serfty, you use exit rows on a 744? I find them cramped (width) and a congregation point for PAX waiting for loos, it you are in the isle, the PAX bump into you, stand around talking - I would forgo the extra leg room for a A or C with noone in B anytime...

By the way, welcome to AFF Londongirl, and you are coming to the best city in Australia, Melbourne!

Mr!

I have little trouble sleeping in these.
  • My torso fits snugly between the armrests- hips to hip as it were,
  • I use a pillow to rest my feet on,
  • pack a small folding bag to locate under my knees/behind my feet (I place my documents, headphones, water bottle, snack on Q bags and other paraphernalia in it) so these are readily accessible, and
  • I remember to bring a pair of white sports socks so that while I am sleeping, people milling around the open space in front of you (and they do) have a greater chance of seeing your feet in the dark before standing on them - (this does work, as patented by og of FT)!
YMMV on this one ...

[Aside]I have noted the row 66 A and K exit seats on the A388 have plenty of room at the shoulder, I'm testing one out in March on the way to LAX. Also, the 80A seat on the way back.[/aside]
