Andrew Neil is a journalist and commentator (not that fond of him but very smart)

He had a big rant about BA on Twitter and even got a response from BA which is very unusual

I don’t see what the flack with British Airways is all about. I flew them several times last year domestically in Europe in business. The planes took off on time and the prices were reasonable. Was the catering and seating underwhelming? Absolutely but that could be said about most European carriers. And I don’t understand what the status concern is either. That trip I took to Inverness earned 160 status credits a little over a quarter of the requirements to keep my OneWorld Sapphire (QF Gold status). So I fail to see what the problem is

You obviously aren’t a BAEC status holder. The new requirements are terrible
That’s right I am not. But the point remains: there is no practical reason to choose Executive Club over say AAdvantage when crediting flights and earning status flying British Airways. As someone who has been burnt once when United changed their elite program from MileagePlus to DollarsPlus, I’ve been there and experienced it first hand. Instead of complaining I simply moved on. Eventually the geniuses at loyalty will see the data points that show the damage this enhancement will make and compare it to the marginal increase in revenue. For some programs they have been quite fine keeping it as it is like Untied

BAEC was a good, solid program that suited my needs perfectly.
And yes, I have now moved programs

I was lucky in being able to get UA 2MM before the CO takeover (remember Smisek?). As for FFP's changing their US focussed credit card based schemes, it won't happen IMO. Just have to suck it up.
