BA canceled and connecting to QF2 award... Is it fixable?

Have you tried logging into mange booking on ba and see whether the disruption flag comes up which allows you to book another flight? If so pick another flight and then call Qantas to reticent. Whilst there are issues with Qantas reticulating partner awards if you are persistent it can be done.

@ChrisMars A fellow AFTer reported that the QF london ticketing office found an alternative connection for this exact issue. I imagine EU rules mean they are more likely to help you.

Strongly recommend calling this number than any of the call centres at this point in time.

Woaw Interesting and great outcome! I cant do better than what is in motion at this stage, unless BA adds a new flight, or move one of the two evening one earlier. Reassuring that calling the local qantas desk works well to fix those issues! I suspect with this cancelation happening within 72 of his departure, the london staff had more capacity to find a solution

I haven't! Good idea, and I can see 3 flights to London. The very first one, got canceled a while ago, and I was automatically moved earlier in the day; the one that got canceled yesterday, and the one I should take, albeit one day before QF2.

I think the only thing left to do is watch I receive the ticket next week, and monitor other ba flights in case one get move earlier in the day.

Update after 3 additional calls:

- Yesterday, offshore call centre, they checked the booking, say it's still in the queue for ticket, call back tomorrow.
- This morning, probably hobart: See the problem, say it needs to go via OW desk, see that J were available, so bring my back in J, promise to call back tomorrow, and set it in his calendar. He also mentioned that the fact that Finnair operate this BA flight could be source of problem. I noticed that earlier and reply these seems to be a wetlaise.
- Got a missed call this arvo, called back, offshore, they check the itinary status, seems like there was no answer from OW desk yet, advised to call back tomorrow.

I never looked at checkmytrip.com up to this week, the booking status on this BA flight is "confirmed". Does that mean that my ticket is secured at this stage? It was like that since Saturday (before those 3 calls), I never checked before.

I hope this get resolved soon, Heathrow is now putting a cap of 100.000 pax a day, and asking airlines to stop selling ticket.

Turns out no BA seat got converted to U. Tried a few times, with different flights, went through ow desk to ask BA to release, come back negatif (all managed via qantas call center, mostly hobart) I imagine the cap in heathrow was the blocker. I even tried the BA T3 airside service desk when arriving on QF1, very competent guy, spend 45 min on this but couldnt fix it.

Ended up flying Ryanair at stupid am, transfering from Stansted to Heathrow, waiting hours for QF2 checkin to open.

Sadly, taxes refund on the BA flight were negative, because with the cancelled flight on the booking, we departed in J from UK, instead of just transiting on the same booking, so we had the uk premium cabin taxe. I am still chasing the 60k points refund with Qantas for the ba cancellation.

Not the best experience overall, but could have been worse in those time.

Sadly you have been a victim of BA's incompetence. Plenty of reports on FT state that their staff do not know how to override the stop sell.

Pax were assured that even with the cap, they would be reacommodated after IRROPS because of the empty seats. Instead BA staff are only booking what is available and in some cases sending pax to LCY from where they are physically at LHR.

It's a complete disaster.
