BA booking in AA metal seat selection

I've just booked myself a return flight from LAX to LHR using the BA website.

As SG, I've pre-selected my seat on the BA metal from LAX to LHR.

I might be completely blind, but it appears that i cannot do the same on the return sector which is BA codeshare on AA metal.

Is there a way I can select a seat before the 24 hour check-in?

No, I don't believe this is possible. AA seems to limit seat selection if travelling on the codeshare flight number.

I have not booked on AA using BA, but this may work. You should have a SABRE reference to the booking.

Find this by either calling AA armed with your flight details and asking, or:

• Use www.checkmytrip.com with your BA booking reference to bring up your booking.
• Look towards the top to "Your Flight Selection" and look for "Airline confirmation number(s): American Airlines: xx_xx_.
• The xx_xx_ would be your SABRE refernce.

Armed with this reference go to AA.com and look up your reservation using this reference.

If found you might then be able to select seats.

I was on AA the other night and they had some fanstastic J class Thanksgiving Day fares to Europe.

I must admit Spruce I didn't even look at the J fares.

I got the Y fare with a post booking upgrade to Y+ for less then AU$1000 which I thought was pretty reasonable.
