Extending that delay into the BNE flight does not bode well for my mid June travel.
Below are dates with the updated seat maps

Just made bookings for a going the long way to Easter Island bucket list trip for next year (SYD>LAX>ATL>SCL>IPC and return via Nashville, Atlanta and LA stop overs, all J :D), so for now Ive picked:

SYD>LAX middle seats 3D & 3G

LAX>SYD window seats 3A & 4A

Hopefully the seats are further enough away from the bar to avoid the noise but waiting for trip reports when these seats are finally flying.

I wouldn't worry too much about the noise from the bar. I've flown in the old row 5 quite a few times which is right behind the bar and the noise has never been a problem for me. There are far louder noises on an aircraft. I find the constant flushing of a toilet in the middle of the night to be more disturbing.

For our upcoming trip on (fingers crossed) the new config, we're in row 6 on the way over which is in front of the new bar and in row 4 on the way back. I don't expect there would be a significant difference in the noise levels.

My last LAX flight was in row 5 and I was being woken by the boorish at the bar, and that's with ear plugs and noise cancelling headphones. Maybe they were just exceptionally loud.

cheers,

Disregard from the 7th or 9th May everyday, since IF the first frame emerges on 29 April, it will be after a two month refit that was scheduled for 40 days. Which means frame # 2 will take between 40 and 60 days, which throws Sydney (2 frames) back to sometime June at best, for daily. That would push Brisbane back to - what? August for one, and October for both?

Must be bleeding money on this project. AHU would come back in November at best. That would make as much as ten months with one frame offline.

Its going to be like the A330's again - a fair bit of anticipation then deflated when seat maps update. Our May 16th VA1 May 23rd VA2 is still new but I'm resigned to the fact that this will change, unless someone can give us a concretish (if it is such a word) schedule once the first one is in service.

Those on VA1/VA2 on odd numbered days in mid-late May are still in with a good chance.

If you are on the 1, 3, 5 or 7th May for VA2 then possible. If on VA1 then 1st May would have already bitten the dust (even though its seat map is still 1x2x1).

I have changed my BNE flight in mid June from 1A to 5D ...

I suspect teething issues and subsequent outages to be back to that 40 days or possibly less.

Still early July BNE bookings may be tenuous.

I'm due to be on VA2 on May 19 and that's still showing the new seat map but I'm not going to hold my breath. I hope it does happen though because I really really want to try these new seats!

This will be having a knock on effect. I imagine AUH flights might be delayed again to catch-up. More $$$$$

It depends what the issues were. I read somewhere that there was a last minute change so the aircraft may not have done any work done in regards to the refit.
Though if I recall the aircraft are having a heavy maintenance check at the same time. Unsure if that's still the case.

Like anything, they would be more efficient after each aircraft.

I still think there will be a few surprises such as WiFi being installed, upgraded entertainment system etc.

Okay, so Virgin Australia has thrown a spanner into the works.

VA2 is now showing the new seat map for even days, starting 4th May through to the 10th, and then odd days from the 11th. Not sure how VA is planning on moving the refurbished bird back to LAX between the 10th and 11th departure, but no doubt VA will change the maps in due course.

VA1 is now displaying the new seat map for the following dates in March. Sunday 01 May, Monday 02 May, Wednesday 04 May, Friday 06 May, Sunday 08 May, Tuesday 10 May (Showing as VA3 dep 12:20 arr 09:00), Sunday 12 May (Back to VA1).

This is killing me. Booked on VA1 on 9 May (which has now reverted to old layout) and VA2 13 May.

If I change my flight to the 8th do you think there is a significantly higher probability of picking up the new seat based on current insight?
