Hi All
It's been a while since I posted as I don't travel any more. Just burning through my points now.

I have booked an award ticket through AA. When I made the booking, AA wouldn't put the infant on. They said it had to be ticketed first and then they would add the infant later. However, when I went to add the infant later they told me taxes were $192! Initially I was told they would only be around $30. I queried them and they said that because the infant was not on a award ticket I had to pay the taxes. Does this sound correct?

Also, the infant is now showing on my reservation yet I have not paid the taxes. I'm guessing there's a note in my award booking sowing I need to pay the taxes.

Thanks in advance, cheers, Michael

Yep, AAdvantage awards are not free for infants. 10% of the full fare cost sounds right.

However, if you use QFF points, an infant redemption is taxes only.

Thanks Futaris. Turns out it is taxes, not 10% of fare.. probably because taxes are more!

Now I wonder if they'll figure out that I haven't paid them yet..
