I have been looking for award availability for NRT-HKG end July and I was shocked when the routing NRT-MEL-SYD-HKG appears with availability about 10 times with different times on domestic connection MEL-SYD.

NRT-HKG is ~1842 miles whilst NRT-MEL-SYD-HKG is ~10,079 miles! Is this put there to trick someone? There has to be a glitch with the software!

Anyone else experience weird or ridiculous routings when using the online award booking engine?

hahahah

I tried PER to Jakarta

ended up with the option of:

PER > MEL > HKG > Jakarta return!!!

I think I've found the weirdest...

Trying to find availability from Sydney to New York, the booking system suggested:
Sydney >> London >> New York

Um.. I think I'll pass...

Yeah its called dont want you to redeem on CX so we'll suggest QF no matter how stupid.

Has anyone searched for Franfurt to New York?

That answer would be just about what I would expect to be the truth.

In my case the answer in points required would end up being more than what is required for a RTW award redemption. I can handle small deviations in a routing but 5 to 6 times more as is the case here. Thanks but no thanks.
