Hi guys,

Further to my earlier post about my first J flight on SQ, I had flights all booked and sorted MEL-SIN-MLE. MEL-SIN legs in 777-300ER with 1-2-1 layout, and the regional 2-2-2 for the shorter SIN-MLE flights, happy days. Have now been emailed about a seat change which means the last SIN-MEL flight is is the regional 2-2-2 configuration which I'm not happy about, was planning on a flat bed for sleeping on that longer flight.

Just got off a very frustrating call with the call centre about options. I suggested I was happy to fly into SYD on the A380 flight leaving a couple of hours later and book my own domestic flight to MEL. This resulted in a confusing barrage of points forfeiture and extra costs. The only thing they could offer was a request with their team for a call back stating they changed the plane and I wanted the flat bed which I originally booked. I tried to escalate to a supervisor who wasn't available, they might call me back?! The annoying thing is they couldn't tell me when someone would call back about other options, suggesting that as the flight isn't until April this mightn't be until next year. I tried to point out that surely options would be much more limited for alternatives if they left it that late rather than sorting it out now. This was met with a repeated 'we'll put a note on your booking'. Very unsatisfactory.

Has anyone else been in this situation, is there any point in visiting a local booking office (which I believe there is one in Melbourne) to try and sort this out?!

Many thanks as always for advice!

Had a similar aircraft change last May MEL-SIN. Offered voucher, can't remember how much x2, in the end it didn't matter as the aircraft went back to an ER before flight.
Have a flight booked again MEL-SIN this May and I received a similar e-mail to what you have described on Friday last.
In my case I may try to change to a different flight (228-238) but likely will just wait and see.
The real experts, cruiser elite and others, will have the best advice.
