Avoiding the booking fees?

It is all way too complicated.

It makes no sense to have the same surcharge for an $800 flight as it is for a $10,000 flight.

It does if your the one paying for the $10,000 flight. ;)

It should probably be highlighted to people that you can only take advantage of these fee free options if booking direct on the airlines' websites as opposed to online travel agents sites such as WebJet.

The WebJet site will still charge you $68 in credit card fees for a family of 4 to make a booking on JQ even if you are using a JQ Mastercard because WebJet is the merchant charging you credit card instead of the airline. This is additional to their 'normal' fees and charges such as booking fee & supposed price guarantee.

WebJet also have no fee free option but just show you one total price so a lot of people don't realise how much they're paying in fees unless they click on the tiny link to display these charges which is almost invisible.

It goes whthout saying that it's best to book direct through the airlines' own website to take advantage of the fee free options. I did a comparison in the recent thread below.
