Avoid QF3/QF4 To/From Honolulu

Good guess but this also raises the point will the International configured B763's be reconfigured before the Domestic B763's?

And another point is that will the reconfig of the B763 fleet result in one standardized cabin? I would expect so. If they are removing and replacing seats I would be kissing the J class 1-2-2 abreast cabin goodbye...

If I were a betting man I would say the international config will go. Afterall isn't Honolulu and Nouméa now the only flights where these are operated? So bit of a waste having 4 a/c dedicated to this.

If the dreamtime seats are to go, I believe there are standards in place saying that the seats must withstand 16g of force at an accident or something to that nature.

I am not sure the millennium seats meet the criteria.

Sorry don't follow, especially when the rest of the fleet has the millennium seats.

Grandfather provisions, what's already installed is exempt, new fitments or refurbs where the seats are replace need to comply.

Why do the newer 330's not have millennium seats (including JQ)?

The standards have come in recently I am meant to believe. It has been referred to on here before.

An updated Millennium seat is still available for purchase, so maybe the current version meets these standards that you are talking of or maybe if they do refurb these 4 a/c may use the seat you mention.

I don't think they are replacing seats, just the covers on them

In fairness the press release was not that detailed. So whilst yes for the most part it is a change of covers I still wouldn't discount based on the release a reconfiguration of the 4 international config a/c. More so as they are 4 of the later builds so would be down the list for a trip to the scappers.

ajw373, The only reason I don't think they seats will be replaced is due to the fact that the original 330's that are now with JQ all had Millennium seats. All deliveries for QF and JQ that came after EBM have had different seats installed, the same goes for the 738's.

I really think they'll have to either go A330 for HNL or keep enough 767s in the Intl config to run the service. NOU can (and has plenty of times) operated with domestic config seating, however people simply would not tolerate it on a 10 hour trip to HNL. Why on earth would you pay more than double the JQ price for the same seat! Given HA now runs fairly well configured A330's to SYD, QF really has to lift its game. Hopefully people will start to shift their custom to the competition which will force a change. At the moment, the HNL flights are running very full.

Given that it seems the seats are only going to be re-covered for the B767 refit then I suspect that the international configuration of the B767's may stay the same. The articles I have seen haven't been specific about the timing and which exact aircraft will have the refurbished interiors done first. From the sounds of it - the refurb will be a new carpet, wall panels, lighting and re-upholstering of existing seats, and just guessing - but also removal of old IFE.

And therein lies the problem - why on earth would QF invest in the aircraft if the flights are full and they are selling J seats for $11K?

Once the AUD$ goes down, along with Australian spending on discretionary stuff like overseas holidays, and people wake up to HA becoming a better and more competative product with full VA earn and burn, then we will see the QF load factors fall through the floor.

Then we may see services either cease, become fully JQ-ized or maybe gat an A330 thrown into service, one of those three if I were a betting man.

Just a thought - 767 has 25J/204Y, 332 has 36J/199Y and 333 has 30J/267Y

I guess they believe that the 767 has the right balance.

I think you will find at a guess that alot of the J Class seats are FF point obtained, hence why Qantas isn't in a rush to upgrade those seats?

That would make more sense especially with the fact that the 767 has the least amount of J seats, with equally the same amount of Y seats with the 332, and 60 odd less Y seats than the 333.

I've done both QA & JQ in J nothing to write home about, service and food OK but seats really awful on overnight flight, really QA should lift their game on these sectors and many complaints abound from many, lets the brand down big time. I recon a 747 should be put on say 2 or 3 times a week while they at least refurb a 767, I wish!, I'm thinking next time go Air NZ instead in new PE, as i can go CNS/AKL/HNL return, takes about same time as going out of SYD.

They are retiring 747's, so the capacity may not be there.

A 330 would be suffice.

Thats a no-brainer there, the CNS-AKL is an A320 and pushing the freindship a bit with 4hrs on it but the Air New Zealand B763 has 2+2+2 J class and 2+3+2 in Y class so thats no so bad. Saves time as you are not flying all the way down to SYD as well.....

Didn't realise the 767 that ANZ operates to Honolulu had premium economy or the cabins were too different from Qantas.

Any update here on a refurbished lie flat/angled product from Qantas on this route?
