Avianca Lifemiles will ¨commence reassesment of redemptions¨. Am feeling alarmed.

Average increase of 1% for Y and 13% for J redemptions from October 15th.
Interesting there is no mention about F at all.

Well, it's not that much if an increase. Still the best program for one way and non mixed class redemptions on *A.

60,000 in F from Australia to South Asia but 50,000 to North Asia?

This looks to be a work in progress.

Doesn't look too bad for Australians, with the exception of North America (which was difficult to get anyway). Business to Europe return drops to 170k from 175k, First goes up from 210k to 230k.

North Asia becomes more affordable too.

Did a quick comparison on the impact for those interested, all one-way flights.

Positives = requires more miles post change
Negatives (i.e. numbers in brackets) = requires less miles post change

Look relatively harmless for most travellers from Australia. F to BKK and J to SIN got cheaper which is great. Extra 10k per leg to Europe on F is more than reasonable. I don't mind paying an additional AUD200 each way, assuming the points purchase cost will rise to USD17 per 1k miles in October as well. Central Asia has gone up quite a decent amount, however I think thats probably due to the fact that apart from India, they aren't heavily in demand routes from here. I do feel bad for anyone using LM to get redemptions to Sth America as they seem to be the hardest hit, but for Europe and Asia travellers, its business as usual from what I can tell.

Yeah I agree- for Oz to Europe is a small impact. In fact with J it is 5k cheaper each way.

Also flights are generally cheaper from Oz to SEA and North Asia which is great.

Yes, also Australia to Europe will be cheaper in Business than before, and only slightly more expensive in first, compared to 20% increase for most other routes.

Some good news for our friends in Oceania, Australia and New Zealand!

It seems as though economy to North Asia is cheaper than to elsewhere in Australia. Odd. Not complaining but odd.

Subsidised by Singapore Tourism Board. We miss you guys after Qantas dropped SIN as a transit point in favour of some unknow middle eastern Airport!!!

Seems as somewhat predicted, the Americas are the most affected. The bloggers may not be happy about this.

Rumours also have it that some (or all) Lufthansa F inventory is being blocked. I'm sure someone can prove or disprove that fairly quickly.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the charts now show one way prices versus previously which were return prices?

I wonder how much of the hard look at their award chart was caused by the silly blogger on a tricked fare complaining to DOT and forcing Avianca to end up paying a fine/compensation for breaching cabbotage rules.

And yes, one ways now on the award chart, compared to round trip before, to make it just a little bit more difficult to quickly compare mileage increases

Great chart! Can you post in higher resolution, and without the coloured boxes so easier to print?

Re: Avianca Lifemiles will ¨commence reassesment of redemptions¨. Am feeling alar...

I agree the new chart looks like a work in progress but so far i think the changes are fair and 3 months warning is great.

Remember lifemiles can't handle complex itineraries so you are unlikely to be able to get to Africa or central/South America anyway.

ive only ever used lifemiles for Asia so to see those levels actually reduce is terrific. Hello F to HKG!!

Re: Avianca Lifemiles will ¨commence reassesment of redemptions¨. Am feeling alar...

Lets see whether this works better

Lets not post too much about such things until after Oct 15th, do we really want them using us to do their beta testing for them!

I don't read a lot but from last I heard there was no result from this yet. However, in any case, I thought it would have mattered / affected squat all, and as for any witch hunt against said blogger... I don't think it stands up to much substance.

TBH whatever change AV made to the affected destination didn't really help it to avoid breaching cabotage; it only made the price less attractive. Only a change in its booking engine would help it avoid a breach.

Indeed! We can do without 'enhancements'.

However, at the same time, thanks for bring that to my attention ketsuzei. And thank you to all who have posted the tables etc. I just realised why I had so much trouble - I read 'redemption cart' as 'redemption chart'...:rolleyes:

SingaporeDon, I enjoy going to Singapore as I have family and friends there and everything works rather nicely. As a result, I find it quite relaxing to ease my way back to reality when I have a stopover there.
