SYD - ICN return in J for May 2016 - 80K miles + 138.15 USD

Would normally pay to buy some extra miles but still over over 100K in miles stock piled so trying to use them up.

Not a bad deal for roughly $2K AUD for return in J. Hoping they do upgrade their product next year after they've backtracked on the upgrade this year. Sad to think Air Asia X has a better hard product than OZ or TG.

Looks like I get to check out the revamped NZ lounge in Syd next year.

I'm in a worse position than you. I had my Sat flight rescheduled to Sunday which I had to reschedule my connecting flight from BNE, wasted $80 change fee but thought if I get to have QS it might be worth it. Now I am back at the angle slider.

I think the problem is that most airline sees us as a third world market so they offer their worst outdated products to us. Consider most flights to Asia, not just OZ and TG, other carriers such as JL, BR, MH, CI, EK and even SQ on most Australian cities still offer angle slider, together with our very own QF A330 all offer the angle sliders. CX is the only exception but they won't offer first class.

So there is just no competition and therefore no incentive for these airlines to give us a premium product.

CDG - DEL - SYD All in J for 29.7.2015 with Air India.

We were oiginally flying via Japan so we could spend a few days in Tokyo, then using Lifemiles go home via PVG.

However after buying miles when I saw CA availability from NRT the flights were not bookable and as others have pointed out/experienced certain flights are not available even though they appear on the website.

So my partner is flying with Air India as only 1 seat was available and I'm using my SQ miles.

Ok, back on topic.
SYD-BKK-CDG TG F April 2016.
115,000 miles + $US90.58 taxes.
Couldn't book it in one ticket (was 60,000 + 102,000 miles online) so I sent the usual 3 screenshots and got reply less then six hours later with the confirmation code. Called the LM Bogota number to pay the taxes and the whole process was finished in 20 minutes.
So far I have 5/5 success rate with the screenshot system and apart from the $US25 service fee I don't mind it at all as long as I can get the flights I need.

Given how restricted and broken LMs has become, I never thought I would make another booking. But, a 120% bonus sale was just too irresistible to pass up so put my thinking cap on. Decided to head to Asia for new years and explore some of the countries I havent visited so planning Cambodia and Sri Lanka.

Booked the following yesterday

MEL-BKK TG J x 2 for Dec 27. Boring I know, but TG dont fly to REP nor do any other *A carriers logistically without doing a huge detour.

Ive done this route many many times on TG J so look at it as a fairly comfortable way to get there given Y rev tix are about the same price. Very impressed both flights on Dec 27 still had 2 x J awards left- TGs availability is still unbelievable.

CMB is zoned Central Asia so not cost effective to use LMs to get home even though both TG and AI are available. Planning to use AA miles as CMB is rather oddly zoned SEA in their program.

Prob last time ill ever use LMs- the program is very broken!

Hi,

I have a booking in J SYD-ICN and ICN-LAX for this THursday. THe only reason I booked that way was because there was no availability for a direct SYD-LAX flight. I can see today that there are seats available on United direct SYD-LAX in J. If I cancel the existing booking with Avianca, how long does it take before I see the points in my account, so I can book the SYD-LAX flight ?

Cheers

The points are credited back immediately, taxes may take a few days.

Just got off the phone for an hour with the agent to cancel ($50 fee pp) 2 X J MEL-BKK-CTS and manage to book around Christmas time( with the miles immediately refunded):
1 X J MEL-BKK TG
2 X J BKK-MEL TG
The agent couldn't find availability initially and kept insisting to use the website to book. I kept asking nicely to look for seats and she managed to find them. Booking confirmed and payment taken but not ticketed yet. She mentioned that I will get an email or a call when everything's ticketed.
Fingers crossed. Pretty easy process.

PlutekPlutek, please only post questions once, not across multiple threads.

This thread is for SUCCESSFUL bookings with LM.

that's odd... I can! Right through to the enter passenger name screen (didn't proceed for obvious reasons!)

if they've blocked simple TG point-to-point that's a shame :(

I hope that's not a new development...

I've been booking such routes for the last 18 months... I can't be bothered doing the whole call/email thing for connecting flights so have been just getting cheap Y tickets to CAN/SGN out of BKK.
