Australian state border restrictions

I’m participating in the discussion like many others to give and gain knowledge ang share relevant experiences. Not to divulge my personal life or that of my family willy nilly. Briefly if relevant such as an elderly aunt having both vaccinations, or 16 year old nieces stepping up as soon as they could.when on topic. Or if I had to have a PCR and my experience of the treatment and waiting times before and after to help others heading down the same path.
OK that's your approach to the topic and that's fine. But the closure of borders has a differing impact on a lot of people and should be of no surprise to anyone that it's an emotionally charged discussion. I am going to miss my family at Christmas and they will miss me too (or at least, that's what they say...!) and the reason for our separation is purely political.

Unfortunately every family with people outside WA are now facing this reality and it's just not fair on the vast majority who have done everything right in getting vaccinated ASAP. We have been swimming in vaccines for months, there is no reason the WA government couldn't have set a much earlier date for reopening and allow families to be reunited for Christmas. Except for the fact it was politically impossible due to the shambolic hospital system.

Quote from McGowan;

"We don’t want to see the pandemonium and chaos that is occurring in states in the east occur here over this crucial period for families and small businesses"

Hmm don't see any pandemonium or chaos here in Sictoria... Off to Mornington Peninsula this weekend.
Have big few days over Xmas with family
All is fine McGowan, thanks for checking in!
Current pandemonium in Sydney, where I'm visiting - people going places, meeting others, getting on with life.

Trying to apply for a re-entry permit into SA is a nightmare.
For 2 days now we have been going through the online process only to get to the last step for this message to appear :IMG_20211218_101956.jpg

The WA Premier got slayed in the press conference, I know he has a speaking disability that causes him to stutter and lisp but when he is stressed it gets even worse and it was clear he is under tremendous pressure now. Hopefully something breaks so that WA residents can escape, but the vaccination rates there are still appallingly low… what a mess…
This is the first I've heard of Mark having a speaking disability, do you have a source for this?

Well, there's a new health minister now, so perhaps something might change.

Just crossed the Qld border at Wallangarra. 100% vehicle check, our doco at the ready on several screens but only a sample checked until the guy figured we were in order. Border was manned by TMR , no QPS in sight.

Very little traffic, Wallangarra is consistently an excellent place to cross.

cheers skip

And WA had just closed their border to Tasmania.

WA has officially isolated themselves from the rest of Australia.
*through in the 'waxit', the 'DPR-WA' and independence jokes*

And the rest of the world. The only open border I believe is to the Cocos and Christmas Islands in the Indian Ocean.

And we are enjoying the pandemonium of East Coast Tasmania. Lovely day apart from the wind. Haven't been asked once to check in. Basically everything is normal.

Is anyone even bothering to check in to places off their own back any more in Vic? Most people seem to just walk in to shops and walk out as they wish...which I'm fine with....

Lots of fake check ins in SA I've noticed. Easy enough to do.
