Australian state border restrictions

No change but ‘extraordinary concerned’.

Just test on arrival for NSW, VIC and ACT and isolate (yea right). Then a day 6 test (sure thing).

SA officially becomes another nutbag state. Who are they getting their advice / information from….? Clearly they are clued into something that is behind withheld from other states.

I truly hope Tassie and QLD are more rational.

A super optimist I see.

Meanwhile in NSW no one seems too fussed that CHO is no longer fronting the cameras, Dom wants borders to remain open

McGowan's omments in this are quite delusional, especially given there are basically no restrictions in NSW,VickrACT except mask wearing in some higher risk settings. Meanwhile even Westralians cant go to some regions of their own state.

Qld Government declares Greater Adelaide a hotspot from 1am tomorrow - if arriving after that time its 14 days home/hotel quarantine.

Yet Queensland are testing at lower numbers than SA despite having 3 times the population, the trend of not wanting to know about community cases continues in Qld.

Reading SA Health FB its more like the doona brigade by 2/3.
The comment tide has completely turned in Qld. I had a look at Qld Health posts and it’s most commonly ‘we’re over it’ with some ‘open the doors please’ and the usual antivax misinformation. However once there are larger case numbers reported there I have no doubt there will be similar sentiment coming out. People tend to comment more when displeased.

Sound move by NSW putting the CHO back in the box. Brings a bit of balance back to these briefings. Never saw the chief economic officer at any of them.

cheers skip

Sorry when are Queensland opening the border to all and sundry again? It was the 17th right?

What a pathetic sideshow this is now. Just sad

It has certainly improved here too, thank goodness, but still too many for my liking. Mix them with the anti vaxxers and it makes me do 🙇🏼‍♀️

I think Qld has the same number as us today but ours are all linked. 🤷‍♀️

There hasn't been a death world wide with the Omicron variant. We only have 1 person in hospital with covid and they arent there because of Covid. So WA and NT have shut us out, maybe we shut out Vic, NSW and ACT. Stupid.
But it course deaths are generally a lagging indicator so still another 1-3 weeks to wait on that one. However, the flu kills too. So ... Even if it does cause deaths it doesn't necessarily means it's a worse variant.

Beggars belief that this same fool is still in charge of the health response
That's harsh. I quite like her. The "don't touch the ball" comment, delivered totally straight faced, was a classic and should be appreciated as such.

The SA CHO is scarily under qualified (for an infectious disease pandemic) basically and the whole hairdresser / football / pizzagate sagas were amusing but symptomatic of actually someone drowning, not swimming.

Why even bother putting in more border restrictions for literally a few days.

What an utter waste of ours (and others) money.

And another kick in the guts for our struggling tourism industry.

So when I cross the SA border in the next few days any idea how the test on arrival process works?

I’m driving across, so will they test me in the car at some pillbox and barbed wire covered border crossing point? And any idea how long until results come back (the period I’m supposed to be isolating)?

Based on my experiences from previously driving into SA. If there's a checkpoint, it'll be police manned and they usher you off to the side, much like an RBT.
Unless you have some form of exemption, I'd suggest you get a Covid test within 72 hours of entering SA. If you can flash a negative test result and you're fully vaccinated, you should be OK. To be sure, it might be wise to contact the help line, shortly before travelling and double check the goal posts haven't moved.

The three boffins are meeting again today. Honestly this is pathetic.

You need to now also test on arrival. But again that could change today.
