*Because we don’t have a functioning state healthcare system, can’t contact trace, can’t vaccinate and I’m desperately trying to hide all this by bleating that NSW stuffed it up for everyone not me….
How about he shows just the slightest bit of good faith and human decency and allows people who's parents or siblings have passed away to enter and quarantine for compassionate reasons.

The guy is an absolute... You know the word.

South Australia recommits to opening at 80% double dosed for NSW and Victoria.

If Queensland is shut expect a huge boom in wine related tourism in SA over Christmas.

I suspect this is a bit of a rant but sometimes I indulge!
I was looking at the current Tasmanian SA alerts. I was in SA last week and travelled back on the 11th. SA had a Covid +ve travel in from Sydney on VA406 the day before. The Tasmanian site identifies Adelaide airport as high risk on the 10th from 9.20-10.15am, the male toilets from 9.40 - 10.10am, the Covid testing site from 9.45 - 10.20 am and the lobby of the Atura Hotel from 9.30 - 10-30 am.
My rant relates to the broad brush approach here. VA406 landed at 9.16am. After landing, every pax goes through the Covid screening. Being from Sydney, this would not have been quick. Regardless, the entire airport is high risk from 9.20 onwards. Doesn't matter if you were sitting in the Qantas lounge, or waiting to board Jetstar at the other end of the terminal; you've been in a high risk area and you cannot travel freely to Tasmania. If you're here, it's off to isolation or possibly hotel quarantine.
The toilets are a pointless inclusion as they are within the airport and the time frame is within the airport time frame. Common sense would say that the airport should be medium risk and toilets high risk but they are both High risk, Level 1.
Jumping forward to the hotel lobby, they've pinged it for a full hour, just around the time people are checking out. Plane landed 9.16, yet our case apparently got through Covid checking, raced to the hotel by 9.30, presumably checked in, went back to the airport to use the toilet and off to the Covid test site before heading back to the hotel to hang about in the lobby!
My rant has a serious side. Back before SOE powers, if you wanted to lock someone up, it required a decision from a court. These declarations of High Risk areas can have exactly the same effect and if you look at them closely, you can see that they are being made with little scrutiny or knowledge of the actual situation. I would expect the 9.30 -10.30 hotel listing is simply because they didn't have an exact time so picked a band that covered the general area. To someone sitting in Hobart, it's very easy to just make the entire airport High Risk but to someone within the airport it can have serious personal and financial consequences.

I can't see QLD giving up the Christmas tourist season - past statements by the Premier and CHO have all but confirmed they will reopen at 80%.

I honestly think this is largely the premiers clutching onto their final moments of relevance. Everything will be open by Christmas except for WA.

Im not sure about TAS or NT being open either.

Or those states might open with testing on arrival / test to release etc

McGowan has threatened to close the border with SA if we open up to NSW and VIC when we get to 80%.
I did manage to cancel a work trip there and we had already decided to go to Tasmania in October instead but still disappointing none the less
So he's giving you a choice of travel to NSW/Vic or WA. Will you need long to think about it?

It would certainly hurt Tasmania, but for NT it's the wet season, so not really attractive anyway.

I think there will be lots of definition of "open".

Unfortunately i don't see interstate travel returning to pre-covid. At least vaccine certs if not lateral flow tests. We'll see i guess.

I wouldnt be surprised if airlines require lateral flow tests anyway

The thinking in Tasmania is not that different to WA. It's going to be interesting to see how they handle the situation if the mainland starts opening up. Most Tasmanians are all for keeping the diseased foreigners out (foreigner being anyone not Tasmanian) but are not so keen when they realise that this also means they can't travel outside the State.
I don't believe we could operate in a Tasmania/WA bubble. The idea of being a safe little island is great but I can't see it being sustainable. Too many people have family on the mainland, kids studying in Melbourne etc.

ACT lockdown extended by another 4 weeks. So another 4 weeks cooped up in my LGA which is masquerading as a territory :(.

I'm not sure I am going to make it to 1 January 2022 to start my campaign of civil disobedience....

Especially if the surrounding LGAs are released from lockdowns - even Yass Valley might come out before the ACT

Exactly, in the news poll Tasmanians were the second most desperate to escape interstate 😂

They will be open for Xmas. The vaccine blitz is going to be insane. And then there will be nothing left to wait for.

When you read the Tassie papers -Muckery,Examiner and Advocate -most of the letters commenting on the border issue are asking for it to be kept closed.
But people who want the border closed and then someone in the family becomes very ill they do expect their family to be let in from Victoria or NSW.

Funny because the Mockery was the affiliate that conducted the poll in Tassie. The letters to the paper are just the fringe whiners.

NT new rules in November:

Red (Covid Hotspot) - Vaccinated, 14 days home quarantine. Unvaccinated, banned.
Orange- Vaccinated - home quarantine until negative test received (didn't specify unvaccinated. Maybe banned also?)
Green - No restrictions

Not much of an opening, but better than nothing.
