I wonder which will be the first state to offer repatriation flights for their 'citizens' stranded in another state.

They won't be seen dead taking responsibility for their own decisions when it comes to borders. That's been proven over and over.

Not SA. It will be "their fault" on social media for travelling interstate but which sadly includes a whole stack of grey nomads in Caravans who simply couldn't safely get back in time.

I am not sure. I thought someone might do it to embarrass the other state. something along the lines of 'it is way too dangerous in NSW now so we have taken the exceptional decision to bring our 'citizens' home, etc.

I heard on ABC radio yesterday that there are lots of SA residents in Broken Hill area having to pay for accommodation waiting for the border to reopen. One man said he is nearly out of money and is now falling behind on rent on his Adelaide home. He talked about going bankrupt.

Maybe, but the most vulnerable really should be vaccinated by now so I wonder if that would garner much support

Looking at the Victorian map of travel zones is really confusing.

The entirety SA a red zone.

Brisbane LGAs are orange (test and isolate until negative).

Longreach and all destinations visited by the positive Qantas F/A are all green (except Brisbane).

Norfolk Island - no cases, but a red zone.

Gold Coast - green zone.

NSW a new category of "extreme risk" however ACT is a red zone (zero known cases).

Would it be cheaper to pay a penalty and get in?

Yes, plenty but patrolled by SAPOL.
If you are caught not only are you fined but you will be detained for 14 days.

Just thinking of alternatives here. Need to do a cost/benefit analysis. If no conviction recorded, perhaps it's better than getting stuck and going bankrupt.

We're not there yet but it's coming...
Not to over look the obvious but with borders shut some businesses are reporting worker shortages in some areas. So we may see start to see illegal workers crossing the border from NSW to QLD to fill the gaps. :)

Nothing would surprise me anymore.

Some will say that is better as locals will not be overlooked.

The fallacy of the argument is you can then create an even smaller subset and argue the same, until you are left with no one.

I think Mark McGowan is having the screws turned a tiny bit by the resources industry to ensure that they are open to interstate workers as soon as possible. Hence the change in tune toward the idea of vaccines being critical.
